They were at the venue in no time. It was a huge hall that had photographers lining the entrance and a red carpet to complete the aesthetic. "Wow," Ezra said lowly. "Don't worry about all this, Princess. You're going to do great."
"Just smile," Celeste instructed as they walked past the valet. Jansen held Celeste's hand while Ezra walked beside the boys. Flashes were seen all around them and Ezra was certain she'd go blind. It felt like forever, but they were finally ushered inside. "I need to go find Mason," Ezra told them causing Jace to roll his eyes. "We'll be in the main hall if you need us." Jansen said walking Celeste over to some dignitaries.
"The kids of these geezers usually hang out over there in the Library, so come looking for us when you're done," Jackson instructed giving her a wink. She smiled brightly at them before heading towards the room she knew as the Opera Hall where they'd be performing. "Wow, Ezra, you look amazing." Marjorie smiled as she made her way in. "Thank you," Ezra smiled before her eyes landed on Mason. "Well don't you clean up nice!" She laughed but he didn't say anything in response.
"Mason, don't be rude. Say something!" Marjorie scolded. "I'm sorry. I was just...Ezra you're so beautiful." She smiled warmly at him before pulling him in for a hug. Mason didn't want to let go. "He's just a little nervous, Marjorie. We both are." Marjorie waved them off. "There's nothing to be nervous about. I also have to mention that there's been a last minute add on to the speeches so we're going to have to cut you both down to just two songs and no duet." Ezra let out a breath of relief. "What no? I want to do the duet!" Mason complained angrily. "We don't have time for it, honey. I'm sorry. Now you two get comfortable and then mingle with the other kids. You'll be on in an hour. I'm off to meet with some magnates." Ezra watched Marjorie happily float out of the room in her red ball gown and smiled.
She looked at Mason and sighed. "Mase, what's going on? Why are you so adamant that we sing a love song knowing we're just friends?" Mason looked at her intently. "I just wanted the memory, Ezra. I wanted to know what it felt like to have the most beautiful girl in the world sing those words to me." Ezra sighed lowly before getting up on the stage. "I know that we can never be. I know that you love them and they love you, but for a moment I just wanted to hear your angelic voice sing loving words to me." Ezra held out her hand for him to hold. "I love you, Mase." He smiled at her but it didn't reach his eyes. "I think you're amazing and there's a girl out there that will light up your whole world." She gave his hand a squeeze. "I will sing for you though. A song that makes me very happy every time I hear it. Just like you make me happy whenever I see you."
Ezra sat down behind the piano and began playing causing Mason to laugh out loud heartily. "Thank you for being a friend," Ezra began singing the theme song to Golden Girls. Mason listened on as she turned a classic to a soulful ode. Mason clapped heartily as Ezra finished her performance. "That was awesome," Mason smiled genuinely. "I'm glad you liked it, because I only ever sang it to my Mom." Mason knew the severity of that fact and he was beyond happy about it. "I'm honored, Ezra." She smiled at him before walking off the small stage. "So, you going to show me where all the rich kids are?" Mason groaned. "Do we have to go?" Ezra pulled him towards the door. "That bad, huh?" Mason sighed loudly. "Think of every stereotypical rich kid character in movies and books and that's what you're about to be subjected to."
Ezra thought Mason was exaggerating. Surely, people couldn't possibly live up to their caricatures. But there she was watching the various pissing contests between the rich teens in front of her. "Told you," Mason snickered at her facial expression, but she wasn't sneering at the moronic teens in front of her. She was looking at the identical triplets hanging all over her men. "Do you want to go over there?" Mason asked cautiously. "Should I?" Mason shrugged. "That's Bela, Daniela and Cassandra Dimitrescu. They're like Romania royalty whose parents lucked out on a business venture here in the states." Ezra nodded at him. They were beautiful with long flowing brunette hair and bright eyes. They had ample chests which each made a point to shove in her boyfriends' faces. They were mostly made up of boobs and legs and Ezra couldn't watch any longer.
