Hours had passed since the incident with Nathraichean and Papa walked me to the pool in the center of the garden and had me step upon it with him following. I turned to him once and gazed at his hands, they were gloved. "Papa?" I asked him. "Your hands are gloved, why?"
"Why do you cover your face still?" he replied with another question. "I wear them because those who are not like us who get touched by me die. I will kill anyone who touches my skin and touches my body. And those who touch my baby girl." He said with no hesitation and no emotion in his voice.
"You cannot blame a daughter for being curious about her father she now knows don't you think? As for the wrappings, I still feel uncomfortable without them. Most of my stitches are out but I still feel them."
"Very well. Come here and hold onto me ok? the time will be different there and it has been about a month and a half since we have stayed this long away." I felt my blood grow cold I have been away from the kids that long? "Come now my Fala Amaris. Let's get you home."
I reached out and hugged Chronus tightly and the waters around us twisted and sucked us down through them. I felt a scream crawl up my throat but I swallowed it back down as the water rushed to my lungs. Air had hit my face like a brick and I gasped loudly while grabbing my throat for air. Chronus looked down on me with worry as I fought to cough up the intruded liquids. I looked up after releasing the water from my lungs and looked around at the lake I had sat many nights.
"I know this lake. I sit here often and think or have a book with me. This is where I would relax when the hunters would run out after me and the kids."
"Kids? I have grandchildren? I haven't even met the man and you have had your flower wilted by him? I must have a private chat with the man now!" Chronus yelled out in the air as I held a giggle.
"Not deflowered papa, I adopted the children like blood so you have a lot more than one or two. I hope you don't mind."
"I never thought I would even have you as my daughter but now you tell me I have grandkids this is like Christmas that the mortals celebrate!" The woods seemed to echo the power Chronus had in his voice. I could hear something rustle in the bushes and then a flash of yellow flashed in my eyes. Chronus had seen it too as he pulled his scythe out from his cloak. His was similar to mine only his was ancient, worn but still more terrifying than mine. "Reveal yourself to the eye of mine!"
"Hoodie?" I questioned the yellow blur as they ran past again but at the mention of the name on my lips, they froze and a black-masked boy faced me. Sewn red eyes and frown seemed to twitch into a smile as Hoodie ran into my arms. I cradled him close to my chest as he seemed to be dwarfed in height compared to me now. Had I grown? I don't think I had.
"Mom." He whispered into my chest as his arms trembled and tightened. "Where have you been its been weeks since you had gone."
"Time moved differently where I was, to you weeks but to me but a day. I missed you my hidden smile. I met someone and they had brought me back but he must come with us home. Is it just you in the woods this night my hidden smile?" I asked my son.
"Yes, mother. Masky had returned after the mission was done and toby was injured making breakfast this morning. I saw the lake move and rise up and wanted to look and see what was going on. " He said as he pulled away from my arms to look at Chronus. "Mother who is that?"
"That my hidden smile is my father. Chronus Enildaed. Better known as Death." I replied as Chronus removed his hood for the first time and now I understood why Luna had said I was colored like my father. He had the same violet eyes as me and light grey skin. His hair was white as well. His face was sharp and attractive to the look, his hair was long and kept to the side in a small ponytail draped over his shoulder. It was tied in a black ribbon and he had aged wrinkles under his eyes. Under his hood was a thorned black ring with dark violet gems embedded into the tips. A crown of sorts, and he wore a black almost royal uniform. He wore no medal but had silver chains draped over his pockets.
