He was near yet so far from my reach,

I called out to him,

He turned to look at me with a sad smile,

"Run!" he shouted,

As I knew they were coming I took cover,

They made him kneel,

Like a wild animal,

They shot him,

With blood peeping through his shirt and his mouth,

He mouthed, "I love you".

I held back a sob as I watch him take his last breath smiling,

I ran to him,

Held his lifeless body in my hand,

With tears in my eyes I said,

I promised him,

I will avenge you.
