the corridor seemed vacant, and you'd think as much if it wasn't for the screams and pleas for aid or for the adrenaline raising and pump of determination racing throughout everyone's veins.

their battle cries and gun shots still echoed throughout the hallway from behind me as i continued on my path. my hands no longer aflame but that could change in seconds.

my destination stood clear in front of me, the doors to the communications room. where i knew they'd be too busy keeping an eye on the battle to see their downfall marching towards them. too oblivious and arrogant to think no one would make it past their soldiers.

the door stood proud in front of me and i reached forwards, no hesitation. i knew this had to be done to save my friends, our people,... lexa.

i still hadn't seen her throughout my mission here, hadn't heard her battle cry, no tell sign that she was even alive. but i knew that if she wasn't, it just gave me even more reason to destroy this mountain. though it didn't help the cracks i could feel forming in my heart at the prospect she could be dead. it didn't diminish the shaking of my knees and the shiver that snaked throughout my body.

my hot hand wrapped around the handle, feeling as though it actually sizzled against the cold of it's metal. not taking the chance of the handle making a noise. my hand becomes alight. a burning colour turning my hand a steaming furnace of reds as the handle followed its path, melting through metal and locks, wires and 'maximum security' technology. arrogant pricks.

shouldering the door, it flew open. smashing against the wall as i stride over the threshold and into the room. seeing exactly who i imagined. Cage Wallace. crouched over a keyboard, perched in a chair surrounded by soldiers as codes ran on one of the monitors while they watched from every angle of the mountain on ccv cameras. their eyes trained of theirs and our people slaughtering each other.

all heads whipped towards the door at their unwanted visitor and my blood boiled. it felt like i had been engulfed by the flames, it's heat surging through my body and into my heart, over my skin and up my neck, and i knew my eyes had turned black, i knew black veins had snaked down my arms and over my torso, up my neck and over my chin as it started emitting a dark, grainy mist.

flowing from my skin in eery clouds, as if it was floating sand. fear seeped from the soldiers contorted faces and a mask of pain painted their expressions.

cages mouth moved but no words registered to my ears as i followed further into the room.

"stop right there", sergeant carl Emerson. he trained his rife at me, his finger ready on the trigger. "take another step and he won't hesitate" the words left cages lips as he stood from the chair he had been in, taking a step forward. "you're too late anyway" his smirk plastered across his scarred lips as he motioned towards a certain monitor.

my eyes darted towards it. they were in the bone marrow chambers. skaikru chained by shackles to the stone wall as raven laid upon the table in the middle. strapped down as a doctor drilled into her hip. making a small hand motion cage signalled a soldier to press something on the keyboard and before i could register their movements loud screams sounded from the speaker. ear piercing shrieks leaving her lungs. taking a closer look i could see Monty, jasper, Kane, Abby, wick. the only others not there would be Indra's squad in the reaper tunnels.

shaking my head vigorously, there was still a chance. looking up, i took more steps but true to his word, Emerson fired. the loud ring of his gun piercing our ears until it wearied off and i could feel the searing wound in my chest. the bullet had hit me square in the chest making me cough up some blood. it felt like the push i needed though. a surge of motivation.

"to stop me you'll have to make it a kill shot." the words passed my lips and into the open of the room, it felt deafening, so, so dangerous, but no longer quiet. i felt free.

it was all cloudy, black mist surged forwards, hitting every crease and crevice of the room. ghosting over the soldiers in a darkening blaze. the soldiers dropped to their knees. their breaths becoming laboured as the mist formed boils on their skin, no. it didn't burn it, it disintegrated it. their skin started melting, falling to the ground and bursting into dark clouds speeding up the process. cage and Emerson still stood tall though.

terror carved into their features at the horrific sight before their eyes. their soldiers' skin had melted, leaving only a pile of bones in their wake. Emerson looked up to me furiously, as if the lack of harm that came his way enraged him. making quick work of it he aimed and fired. three loud shots rung throughout the air but i only felt two bullets collide with my body, one piercing straight through my shoulder and i could hear the clanging noise of it colliding with the wall. the other hit my right hip, the force of it causing me to buckle over.

"come on, we need to go." cage spoke directly to Emerson.

"no, we need her dead, she'll kill us all." stubbornness staying clear in his voice.

"she as good as dead, she'll bleed out."

before Emerson could reply cage had had his path determined and left through the door, Emerson hot on his tail.

groans left my mouth and i pried myself up onto my elbows, one hand placed firmly into the floor as i then reached for my hip. brushing against it, i hissed and removed my hand, blood coming away with it as i did.

stabling myself against the desk, i stood up. looking to the screens. they had started to unstrap raven. i still have time.

reaching forward, i flicked a couple of buttons and grabbed the mic attached to the desk, bringing it closer to my mouth as harsh breath echoed through it. pressing to speaker button i turned it on, clearing my throat.

"grounders and skaikru," i started, my voice cracking with the pressure speaking put on my chest, it felt like hot ice was dripping from every pore in my skin "you need to get our people and leave." skaikru heads moved and looked around the room, the drilling had gone quiet in the bone marrow chamber. searching the monitors my eyes locked on the ones based in the tunnels, Indra's and Octavia's group standing at the ready. searching the keyboard i pressed a couple of buttons and in the same monitor the light on the door in the tunnels turned greens, "you have 3 minutes." pressing cancel on the speaker i dropped to my knees. my hands on the ground holding me up.

i must do this, they have to get their people out, i have to do this. i repeated in my head.

standing tall, i focussed all my energy into my body, everything feeling hot and ridged as the floor below me shook, my veins turning darker, darker, mist blacker than ever filling the room. this has to work.
