Chapter 1

As she got into her race car, she could feel the nostalgic feeling of her first race. Something she felt every time she did this. The girl closed her eyes, taking in everything. The smell of the old race car, the feeling of the steering wheel firmly held in her grasp, the sense of pride and also nervousness that came with racing. She felt it all. It was like a trip back to the first time she had ever raced.

"You ready, Ronica?" Her brother's voice rang through her headset.

"Ready as I always am, Alec." A confident smirk fell across her face.

Ever since she was little, Veronica loved racing. She was fascinated every time her father raced. The loud noises of the cars and crowd that were watching and not on their phones. The visuals of the cars racing around the track at top speed, trying to pass the car in front of them. She loved it. Every bit of it. Once she turned 18, her father gave her his race car, retiring from racing due to health issues at the age of 50. He had taught her how everything worked, as well as her older brother, in case something happened to him and Alec got the interest that his little sister did. Alec never did, but he still joined his sister's racing crew, helping out the best he could.

"Get ready. Flame is next to you." Alec told his sister as she started her car.

"I forgot that prick was racing today." Veronica chuckled, gripping the wheel and glancing out her window to see Sapnap doing the same.

"Be nice and be careful," Alec warned her.

"Yeah yeah, I got it. Are the others ready just in case?" Veronica asked her brother.

"All ready to go in case of an emergency," Alec confirmed.

Accidents were a scary thing. Especially in racing. If your car were to crash without other drivers' knowledge, not only could you be hurt, so could the other drivers. Veronica had seen her father crash many times. It terrified her, but the thrill of winning and beating Sapnap and others kept her going. Even after many dangerous crashes of her own.

The red light changed to yellow, the other racers revved their engines. Veronica took a deep breath, doing the same.

"You got this Vero," Alec reassured her.

The light changed for a final time, going from yellow to green, the cars shooting forwards as the race began. Veronica ended up behind two cars, putting her in third. Unfortunately for her, her good friend Techno was in first, whilst her rival Sapnap was in second. The three were leaving the rest of the racers behind. Veronica was trying to find an opening to pass Sapnap but couldn't do so without causing a crash between them both. Soon, one lap turned into 10, into 15.

"Alec, how do I get around him?" Veronica said through grit teeth.

"When the turn comes, take the inside. He's been taking the outside lane more and more each lap." Alec informed her.

"And how to pass Techno?" Veronica asked.

"Worry about that after passing Flame," Alec told her.

"Alright. Got it." Veronica hummed.

Veronica pressed on the gas pedal more as the turn came, doing as her brother told her and taking the inside lane. She successfully passed Sapnap, now sitting in second place with only her friend to pass and 4 laps to do so. Veronica let out a deep exhale, speeding up as the straight away came up. Techno was getting farther away from her than she was enjoying. Sapnap was behind her, pushing forward in an attempt to pass her.
