Kaelynn's P.O.V.
The rest of the week's been the same as the first two days. It's become like a job or something to me now. I talk to Rebecca, Mason comes over for a few, then he leaves and the bell rings. Like a schedule. In my opinion, Rebecca and I habe grown more closer. Her friends consisted of people that go to a different school (and me, if she counted it), she stays in a lot, and can actually draw! She draws just about anything she likes to see, and sometimes a self-portrait. But, she hasn't shown me any of her masterpieces. Yet.
Now, it's the weekend, but I can't kick back and relax like I want to. Stupid teachers--er, "proffessors", as they liked to be called--want to give us loads of it. I hate just about every single class. Except dance. I love it. It takes my mind off of things for about the hour we have in there.
"Kaelynn!" Char shouted from downstairs.
I was in my room, doing this stupid math homework. "Yeah?" I called back.
"Some girl wants to see you!"
I wonder what girl she was talking about. It can't be Rebecca, because I haven't given her my address. But, I was so wrong.
It was her.
"Rebecca, how do you know where I--" I started.
"Doesn't matter. Look, I need help with my homework. Math is not my best subject. Can you help me?"
What I want to know was how she got this address! But, being the good friend(?) I am, I lead her up to my room.
"It looks nice in here," she commented, dropping her things on the floor.
"Thanks. I try to keep it clean." I smiled, then we got started on this crap they called "math".
It was going along great. Rebecca talked more about herself, and I found out she wanted to be a crime investigator. That had me interested, because I was still worried about the case with my mom and how she died. The stupid police still haven't found the culprit, and it was getting on my nerves. IT SHOULDN'T TAKE THIS LONG TO FIGURE OUT WHO COMMITED MURDER!!!
And that got me started.
"Are you alright?" Rebecca asked me, noticing me rub my arms.
"Oh, yeah. Just a little chilly to me. I get cold easily," I lied with a smile. I hate lying to people, but that's what I've had to resort to, so I wouldn't be labelled as "crazy, mentally insane" and that junk.
"S-so, what made you want to pursue that career?" I asked.
"Just from one of my family members. Encouraged me to do it."
"That's cool."
We went back to solving problems, getting confused, and having to ask each other how they got an answer. Soon, we were finished, and decided to take a break. I suggested going on a walk, and Rebecca agreed.
"Do you have a nickname or anything?" I asked, still rubbing my arms.
"Nope. I usually tell people to call me by my mame."
"I think you should have one. Reeb! Becky! I like that. Becca! I like that too. Or--"
Rebecca sighed. "Just choose one already!"
"Okay, okay! I like Becky and Becca. Done."
Rebecca shook her head and I swore I saw her smile. This was huge, because I've never seen her smile before.
"You smiled!" I chanted.
"What? No, I didn't!"
"Yeah, you did! You have a pretty smile, Becky. Your nickname suit you."
"And why would you say that?"
"Don't know. It just does."
We continued walking to some unknown place, and Rebecca started asking me questions about me. I couldn't just steer around them all, so I said the basics. No detail, and nothing about my mom or anything.
"And what about your family?" She asked.
Crap. "Um, they're nice people. Good." Was all I said. It sounds stupid, I know, but Rebecca continued with another question, thankfully.
Somehow, we ended up in front of Rebecca's apartment. She showed me inside, and it looks very nice. We decided to sit in there for a while, since it was extremely hot outside. My shinanigan stopped, and my hands her clasped together.
"I'll go make us some lemonade," Rebecca offered, then left to make some.
I took in her living room and smiled at the pictures of her and, what looked like, her friends. They were an odd-looking group. One girl had blonde hair with green ends, a guy had hair so long and such a feminine face that I mistakened him for a girl, and another girl had purple hair that stopped at her neck. Odd, right?
Then, I looked out the window, and noticed a tree stood right outside it. Rebecca was right when she said that the trees look really nice. With their tall trunks and slim branches. Just beautiful. Until I saw a figure walking slowly towards the window. My nerves began to stirr, and an uneasy feeling came over me. The person was in all black and kept walking to the window. I looked away and tried to calm my speeding heart. No need to be shook up about something small. Maybe the person was going to turn around to the back of the place, because there's another set of apartments back there. There has to be a logical answer.
Because, that cannot be Brian.
It's not him, it can't be him! I'm going a little insane, and I'm just imagining him wherever I go. Yeah, that's it. So, I didn't look out that window. My nerves were going wild, and I began rubbing my legs. Flashbacks about fire, my mom's body, and the accident appeared, and I could not shake them away. Tears stung at the back of my eyes, but I cannot let them through. But, they came through anyway, and I closed my eyes tightly.
"Kaelynn?" Was the last thing I heard before zoning out completely, and everything faded away.
A/N: ...Hi! Look, there's some random picture of Kaelynn and Rebecca! Yaaaaay! XD
Thanks for the votes and reads and comments! I'm tryna update more and get more feelings and stufd for the story. I may have lost it after I finished the first CoMH. Sorry! I'll try to get back in it!
