Kaelynn's P.O.V.

A car horn beeped outside, and I peeked through the curtains to see the familiar vehicle of Camren's mom. Charlize's light footsteps came from the stairs, and I waited for her to come all the way down.

"You know it's a school night," I couldn't help but say.

"Okay. She said her mom can drive me there," Char shrugged. Then, without so much as a 'bye', she left the house.

This is all my fault. My stupid nerves and emotions got in the way of my sister and I's perfect relationship. Way to go, Kay. I felt so disgusted with myself and the way I've been acting lately. Everything Char said was true. Every single word. Even about how I've acted like this because our mom died. I'm such a terrible person.

And her dreams? I didn't even know she had them! And that's mostly my fault, because of the lack of communication with her.

A part if me wanted to chase after Camren's mom's car and stop them. But the other part, the wiser part, wanted to let her be so she could cool down. Instead, thoughts of tomorrow, Friday, creeped into my head. The day I've been waiting for. And, I finally picked where I was going. NOT to Mason's party. Maybe he'll understand, but I don't care right now. I just care about the justice I'll have for my mother.

My phone rung, out of the blue, causing me to scream, and the dogs started barking. Wow, my nerves were getting worse. The Caller ID said Rebecca's name, which surprised me even more. But, not enough to scream.

"Hello?" I answered.

"Kaelynn? This you?"

"Yeah." I felt hope in my heart, maybe she'll want to try to reason with me! A smile grew on my face.

"Well, could you stop butt-dialing me? I'm trying to do some work here."

Annnnnd, the smile dropped completely. I must've been sitting on my phone, unconciously.

"O-oh. Sorry about that."

"Just don't do it again. Now, I've got to go--"

"Wait!"

I couldn't let her get away from me again! I need her to understand me. My whole life. Everything that references to me.

"What?" She questioned.

Nothing came out. No words, whatsoever. Except a gargle sound. She probably thinks I'm a gigantic freak by now.

"Hellooooo?"

"Uhhhhhh," was the only understood thing I could utter.

"'Bye, Kaelynn--"

"REBECCA, NO!" I yelled, in an attempt to stop her from hanging up.

"What do you WANT?" She shouted the last word, and I flinched. "Sorry."

"Can you come over to my house? I want to explain everything."

There was a pause on the other line, and I wondered if she left me. Until she said, "Everything?"

"Yes, everything. Whatever you want to know. Just come by now, and I'll tell you."

"...Fine. I'll be there in fifteen." And she hung up.

Finally, another chance to fix something I've wrecked.

***

When Rebecca got here, I explained my whole story to her, much like I did with Mason. She asked questions, and I answered them the best I could. This time, I studied her different facial expressions, which was what I didn't do with Mason. By the time I was done, Rebecca showed me so many different facial expressions, I couldn't keep count with them.

"...Anything else?" I asked with a long sigh.

Rebecca, who was petting Tyson in her lap, shook her head. "No, I got everything I wanted to hear."

I gave her a nod. "Do you want anything to drink?"

"No, I'm good."

We sat in silence for a few minutes, with me staring at my hands. It was such an awkward silence, and I hated it. I don't want anymore awkward silences between us.

"So, you want to find the guy responsible?" Rebecca asked.

"Yeah. I feel like I have to."

"That's...sweet, I guess."

"Yeah. I'm going to the police station this Friday to help around, because I don't think them officers are doing their job right. Hopefully, there are some evidence or something that they skipped over or accidentally missed while investigating."

Rebecca looked at me like she was about to say something, but didn't know how to say it. "Hey...would it be okay if...you know, if I could... maybe come to the station with you? B-because I know a little something about...crimes and stuff because my dad is sort of one, and I learned lots of things from him. Unfortunantly...I don't get to see him much anymore. But, I can go, if-if you want?"

I smiled happily. I've always wanted her to go with me. "Yeah. That would be great, Rebecca."

"Just call me Becky," she grinned.

A/N: Hiiiii! There's a quote-thingy from the book! Didn't know what else to put. :D

Thanks for all the things and all.
