Kaelynn's P.O.V.
"What are you doing here?" I growled to the trio at my door. They all sported a guilty/sorry look, but I'm not falling for that. My "boyfriend", "friend", and "sister" all had such evil vibes radiating off of them. And poor Tam is just stuck in the middle of all this.
"We came to explain," Mason said, stepping forward.
"Explain what?" I growled. I didn't want to listen to his poor excuse of an explanation that he has just made up. I know what I saw.
"Everything, Kay," Becky stepped forward also. I took in the state they were in.
Mason wore a giant, plain white t-shirt with a hole near his shoulder, and a few dirty spots on it. His oversized jeans dragged on the floor and covered his shoes. Not at all what I expected from him. Becky appeared more decent than Mason. She had on a fit-and-flare dress with heels that matched. The only thing wrong with her was her hair and face. She had absolutely no make-up on, which was unusual for her. Of course, she's pretty without it, but she never leaves the house without the slightest bit of make-up on. And her hair looked as if it was tossed around and finger-combed a billion times before settling for a ponytail. They both looked...miserable. Without me? No, it couldn't be! They must've set it up so they'd LOOK miserable. They're trying to mess with my mind!
"And I can tell you everything," Charlize piped up. Compared to Mason and Rebecca, she gave the impression of being the most non-affected one, which angered me a little.
How do I know they'll tell me the whole truth, and not lie about it? Especially my own sister. After all these years of me only trusting her, she's betrayed me. I can't trust ger anymore. And it hurts a lot to be hurt by your own sister, that knows what you've been through.
"You better tell me everything," I said, clenching my teeth in fury. "Or I will shoot you!"
Becky gasped as Mason said, "You don't even have a gun, Kaelynn!"
"Oh! Just because my leg's broken, I can't do anything?"
"Nonsence! You won't even--"
I covered my ears and looked down. I was so annoyed and just plain tired. I massaged my temples before looking back up and uncovering my ears.
Becky didn't look frightened, and Mason and Char didn't look at me like I was insane anymore. Almost like when they first came in.
"And I can tell you everything," Charlize repeated, as if she hadn't said that before.
"You just said that," I pointed out, sipping my water.
"Said what?"
"What you just said! I must be losing my mind," I muttered the last part to myself. I just had to be!
I waved my hand, dismissing the matter. "Forget it. Just start telling me the story. From the beginning, when that Briana freak statted visiting you." I shot Mason a glare, daring him to say something.
Charlize fumbled with her fingers. "Can you close the window?"
Tam went and closed the window, and nodded for Char to continue. Mason shut the door and leaned his back on it.
"Well, it started when we were at the hospital. He would always visit me there and at Tam and Ti's house when I was alone. I don't know why, but I guess he trusted me or something, I'm not sure. He confessed he wanted to kill all three of us intentionally. And when I told him you and Mom was still alive, he got angry and left. The next time he visited, he..."
Char started to tear up, and she wiped her tears away. "Kay, he pulled Mom's plug! And he was about to pull yours, but I stopped him!"
My own tears started cascading down my face, and I wiped them away. "She d-died of the brain dam--"
"That's what he wanted everybody to think," Mason spoke up. "He has friend actors who acted as doctors to help him kill you! I know because he's done that to me before."
Char nodded. "And we he tried to pull yours, I begged him not to. He listened, then he left."
"Well, why did he kill Mom?" I asked.
When I glanced at Tam, she had her phone out, recording it. Smart girl.
"She killed her for two reasons. Well, it was Brian who hit us. I saw him at the scene. He looked at me before speeding away. He stole his grandmother's old truck to do it, so the poloce wouldn't track his car. The first reason he did it...You know the woman that was following us? Yeah, that was his aunt or something. Or like an aunt."
That made total sense in how Mason and Becky knew--and hated--each other.
"Her name's Marlene," Becky pointed out.
"Erm, yeah. They were very close, and he was upset when he found out what happened to her. And the other reason was because he found out he...Mom was pregnant."
I was infuriated when I heard that. It was true. Why did he do that to our mom? Our innocent mom? He couldn't just gather up his courage and help her raise it! Does he do that with other women??? I mean, there's still Mason.
"Wait...if he did that, then..." Char turned to Mason.
Mason shook his head. "No, he couldn't have. No! This can't be true!"
"Well believe it!" I said. "If he did all this to our mom, I'm sure he killed yours, too!"
Mason shook his head, then slid to the floor. I knew he was crying, but what could I do?
"I really wanted him to stop, KayKay. I didn't want to be trusted with his secrets! I wanted to be a normal girl again! I didn't ask for this! I didn't want to be involved! And you know what?"
I looked at her, still wiping the tears away. "What?"
"He was our dad's best friend."
A/N: All has been revealed! Sorry for the VERY LATE update! But, it's long. Only a few more chapters left until CoMH2 is over, and then we have the third book! I still haven't found a name yet. :/ Oh well.
