Kaelynn's P.O.V.
And to the police station we went, being extra cautious because of Brian. We don't know where he could be. I was so paranoid, it was like I could feel his eyes on me and hear him laugh at us. I held onto Char tightly, as I have mentally forgiven her, and she was helping me with my leg.
Officer Dun was in tonight, luckily, and let us in. "What seems to be the pro--"
"Brian did it," I blurted out. "He did everything!"
"Whoa whoa whoa. Let me get us some coffee, and donuts, and we can--"
"WE DON'T HAVE TIME! HE COULD BE HERE, WATCHING US!"
Tam pulled out her phone and pulled up the video, then showed it to Officer Dun. He had a knowledgeable look on his face as the video played, and right at the ending, the lights flickered oddly. But nobody else acknowledged it, so I kept quiet.
"I thought so all this time," Dun muttered, going into his cabinets and pulling out files. He uncovered the board about Mama's case, and examined it. "Makes total sense."
It wasn't until the lights went completely out that everybody got concerned. Charlize held onto me tighter, as I did her. The sound of the front door of the police station opening made my heart race. We all moved back, except for Dun, who moved closer. Boots stomped closer to us, Char hiding her face in my neck. Oh please let it be a drunk police officer that walks slowly!
The boots stopped right at the door. I was so scared I swear I could have peed my pants right then and there. And then his head peeked around the corner. Char screamed so loudly as he did that, and Officer Dun lunged for him. The two wrestled for a moment, Brian succeeding in getting Dun's gun and aiming it at him.
"RUN!" Dun screamed.
I started to panic. We had nowhere to run because Brian was blocking the way. What do we do? What do we do???
"Girls! In here!" Mason, Tam, and Becky pushed the file cabinet out the way to reveal a door. Char and I stood to run in there, Brian yelling, "NOOOO!"
We all crowded in there. It was a storage room. We manuvered around the various things, hearing a gunshot. Char whimpered at the knowledge that Officer Dun was gone, but we couldn't help him anyways. Mason and Tam were pushing stuff on the door, to create a blockage for Brian.
"I SHOULD HAVE KILLED YOU ALL A LONG TIME AGO!" Brian shrieked.
Another gunshot was heard, and I screamed as I saw Tam fall to the ground, her body lifeless. She was my rock, and now she's gone. I cried as I limped to Becky, who had found a window. Mason helped me out first as we heard the breaking of the door. I wanted to lie on the ground and cry, but I couldn't. I still needed to help my sister.
The four of us ran, ditching the car. It would take too long to get in and start up. And Brian was fast. So, we ran into the woods. And that's where Mason got shot.
"NO, MASON!" I cried, doing my best to kneel down to his level.
"Kaelynn, go!" Mason said, starting to wheeze.
I stood up, but didn't move.
"I'll always love you," he said, before he became unmoving. He was dead.
Becky pushed me forward as another gunshot was heard, and struck near my foot. We started running again, zigzagging our way through. Becky glanced behind us.
"We need to climb trees!" She said, stopping at one.
"I can't!" I said. Another gunshot.
Char let out a startled breath, holding her chest. A red liquid stained on her shirt. No no NO! Her arm let go of me, but I caught her before she fell.
"Char, don't die on me," I cried, lightly shaking her.
"I love you, KayKay."
Tears blurred my vision as I sat her on the ground. "I love you, too, Char."
She smiled at me faintly before closing her eyes one last time. I laid her down, crying uncontrollably. I had absolutely no family. My dad's dead, Mama died, and now my sister's dead. All by the same guy.
"I HATE YOU!" I screamed, directing it at Brian, who I saw coming. Straight to me.
"Why?"
Brian shook his head. "Your mom made me. She took Mike away from us. She had to pay."
"He was your friend!"
Brian shrugged. "Yeah. But if we couldn't have him, nobody could. Sorry, not sorry about this."
When he pulled the trigger, everything faded to black. I felt no pain or anything. The black faded into white and back again. A slow beeping noise reached my ears, steadily becoming faster.
No.
