Kaelynn's P.O.V.
My eyes opened, and I found myself in my bedroom. Confused at why I was here struck me, and I sat up to see Mason and Becky in the room also. Becky was asleep beside me, while Mason sat in a rocking chair that was actually quite comfy. Stretching and yawning, I quietly got out of bed and snuck out the room.
The rest was the house was as quiet as my bedroom. I wasn't even sure if Tam and Ti were here. But I was sure of one thing. Char wasn't. I picked up the house phone and dialled her cellphone number. A few rings passed before she picked up, and I felt my heart lighten up.
"Mm, hello?" Char's sleepy voice answered.
"Char! You're okay!" I sighed in relief, sitting on the couch with the phone.
"Yeah. Why wouldn't I be?"
Deciding not to tell her about the station until she comes home, I said, "Just wondering. When are you coming home?"
"I don't know. Later today."
"Okay. Will you call me when you come home?"
"Maybe. Kaelynn, I'm going back to sleep, okay? I'll tell Camren you said hey and all. 'Bye."
And just like that, she hung up on me. I was a little hurt at her tone of voice, but was happy at the same time that she was okay with Camren.
"Kaelynn? You okay?"
I whipped my head around to see Mason walking towards me, a sleepy smile on his face. I smiled back. He looks cute when he first wakes up. Wait, what am I saying???
"Hi, Mase. Yeah, I am. Just got finished talking to Charlize. She's okay."
Mason came and sat beside me. "That's great."
We sat in silence for a few minutes. For some reason, I was worried about my appearance. I must look a mess. But, why did I care? He's only my friend, nothing more.
"What happened last night?" I asked him.
Mason chuckled a little before informing me on what happened.
"Wait. I get to talk to Ann?" I asked.
"Yep. Next Friday. He'll be locking up again, and he said you can go in there and talk to her."
My thoughts were all over the place. I get to talk to Ann. Maybe she'll know something. What will I say to her? And then, there's Char, who's hiding something. What is she hiding? Does she possibly know who did it? No, she wouldn't keep something so big from me. Would she?
Mason grabbed my hand, and the butterfies started going crazy again. "It'll be okay, Kay. If you want, I'll come with you to talk to her."
"That would be nice. But, what about my sister? She could be hiding something from me. I have to know."
He ran his thumb over my knuckles repeatedly to calm me down. It really worked. "Just talk to her. Like you did to Rebecca."
I looked at him in shock. "That's the first time you called her by her correct name!"
Mason shrugged. "Second time, actually. Last night was the first."
I giggled, and laid my head on his shoulder. Somehow this felt right. Being here with him, even though it's only as friends. Oh, who am I kidding? I like Mason. I like him. I admitted to myself that I like him. Now, I have to hide it. He can't know.
"AWWWWW!"
We both jumped at Ti's voice. She stood in the kitchen, wearing a tanktop and shorts, her blonde hair in a messy bun. "Y'all are soooo cute together!"
"Ti! Shut up!" I growled at her, blushing madly. Mason just laughed.
"Aw, come on Kaelynn! Don't you think we would make a great couple?"
He has got to be kidding me.
Mason gave me a small kiss on my cheek. It was a friendly gesture, but it meant a lot to me. My whole body tingled and my skin heated up. I turned away from Mason as he softly laughed.
"Kaelynn's blushing! You two should totally go out!"
"TI, SHUT UP AND GO COOK!" I shouted in embarrassment.
Ti smirked, but did as she was told. Mason was looking at me, and I blushed harder. "What?" I said.
"You just look cute when you blush."
Before I could say something, there was loud banging at the door. The both of us jumped up and ran to it. Becky and Tam were probably sleeping, and this person was being really inconsiderate. I opened the door to reveal none other than...
"Where's Mason?" Regina snapped.
"Look, why are you here, banging on my door? Do you not realize how rude you are? People are freaking sleeping, and you have the nerve to knock somebody's door down? You need your mama to teach you some manners or something, 'cause I can't deal with that!"
I was shocked that I said that. And Regina was too, by the way she looked. Mason still hasn't said anything. He hasn't even stood up for his girlfriend.
"Where. Is. My. Boyfriend?" Regina growled.
"Behind me," I answered confidently.
Her eyes grew. "MASON! LETS GO, NOW!"
Mason pushed the door wide open, but didn't leave. I forgot he was in jeans and a white tanktop. That must have sent the wrong message to Regina.
"Did...you...Did you--"
"No, Regina. I just stayed with her and her friends. There's nothing to be mad about. They're just friends."
Regina stomped her foot and made an irritated noise. "Mason, we're leaving. We have to talk!"
And you know what he did? He stood there and said, "No."
He said 'no' to his own girlfriend. She made the noise again and stomped away. I hope I didn't ruin their relationship. Even though I didn't like her, I didn't want to be the cause of their messy relationship.
"I'm so sorry," I apologized. "You should have went home to her. This is all my fault, Mase."
Mason smiled and held my chin. "No, it's not. She can be a bit jealous at times. And, I wanted to stay here. To see if you were okay. I care about you, Kaelynn."
He cares about me. Mason cares about me.
"Crap! Kaelynn, are you okay? I heard Regina, and I will beat her if you want me to!" Becky came running down the stairs, and skidded into the living room.
I laughed a little and looked at her. "No, everything's okay. I hope?" My eyes went to Mason for confirmation.
Mason nodded. "Yeah, you know Regina. But, everything should be okay." He put an arm around my shoulder, and I buried my face into his muscly body.
I really hope everything was okay.
