From what I have learned from Jane is that you never stop trying. That little old woman is as fierce as a tiger. Yet her looks make her seem like such a mouse. Funny how those two roles connect in so many ways. Anyways what I'm trying to say is that I should not give up so soon. Yeah it's dark, yes it's scary, and no I do not know what im doing, but I'm going to do it. No matter how long it takes I'm going to make it back home. I can see the dim glow of the city over the tops of the trees. So at least I know to go that way. Yet I need to go around this goop first. It indeed is startling dark and I can hear birds or something in the trees. The stars are glowing above me twinkling and dancing. Like they have no care about anything. I use my foot to feel around the grass. Till I found a nice steady stick. I picked it up and it was about half my height which is around 5ft 9in. I do not know why I'm grabbing this stick so do not ask me why but this stick is now mine. I take a step and I stepped on a branch that cracked really loudly. I winced wishing that was not so loud. Then little dots of light started to float up around me from the grass. They were little bugs about the size of the palm of my hand. I smiled because now I can at least see a little bit more. With one foot soaking wet and the other in a shoe I walked around the area I believed the goop was. Every once in a while poking the ground with my stick to see if anything would move.
Before I knew it I was on the other side of the goop. I chuckled feeling empowered that I got to the other side. Then I felt incredibly scared as I looking into the woods. It was completely black like you could not even see the trees. All I knew is that if I went straight then I should end up somewhere near the city. So I took a few deep breaths and held on tightly to my stick as I started walking into the forest. The leaves under each step I took, crunched loudly. I swear I have never heard anything so loud. It was a little too silent for my liking. My heart beat was probably the loudest thing in these trees. I could barely see an inch infront of me and I was stumbling blindly through this.
I was so far into the trees by now that when I looked behind me I could not see the spots of light anymore. I stopped and took a deep breath trying to calm down, feeling lost and like I was walking on air. I looked up hoping maybe I could see the stars or moon but there was a little bit of nothing. A little hue but that's it. Then all of a sudden my footsteps were not the only ones. The hairs on the back of my neck stood up and goosebumps covered my whole body. My heart beat quickened and I felt a little dizzy. I took a deep breath and kept walking. Brushing it off, begging, it was all in my head. The very last thing I wanted to do was look behind me.

'Like what was I supost to do? All I have is a stick! Want me to wack it? Not going to happen buddy.'

Up ahead of me I could see some light. Very little but it still gave me a sliver of hope. The steps seemed to be getting louder and this was my chance. I needed to run. So I did. I started to sprint as fast as I could. It is very hard being off balance because of hanving one shoe off and one on. Behind me I heard a low grumble. Not like a growl.
The light seemed to be getting brighter but the running behind me is getting louder. I smile feeling the freedom. Feeling like I'm safe. But im not out of the woods yet. So I keep running and now I am starting to be out of breath. I can see the edge of the trees in front of me. Then I see a person standing at the edge of the woods. All I see is their silhouette. I look behind me and see nothing. There is absolutely nothing behind me. I look to my left. Nothing. I look to my right. Nothing. I stop running and turn all the way around. Where was that running was coming from. I am completely curtained that something was chasing after me. I look back at the person standing there. They are in all back with a hood. It's the same one that was watching me at the store.
'Oh no, it's the person that was watching me at the store.'
It became hard for me to breathe and the air felt like ice. The back of my throat felt like it was being clawed at. I started coughing. I looked back up and saw no one there. This makes no sense. Am I hallucinating right now? Is this all a dream? Still not able to breathe I walked to the edge of the woods. I slowly walked out looking all around. Wondering where they went. Still holding the stick to my chest I turned around and looked back into the woods. There was glowing eyes in the darkness staring at me.
