It seemed as though we stared at each other for centuries but I am sure it was only a few minutes. I was the first to look away in this unplanned staring contest. I could still feel his stare but I did not dare to look back. I started to get a little bit nervous because I began to overthink why he was staring at me. There was an overwhelming amount of thoughts and insecurities that forced their way into my thoughts. My breath quickened and I could feel my sweat drip down under my arms. I closed my eyes and could feel my face catch on fire in embarrassment. I knew my face was red.
I opened my eyes and looked over to him, not even standing on the balcony anymore. I rolled my eyes in frustration from the fact that I just embarrassed myself because of myself. I looked over into the window to see if anyone was even watching me. There was no one even in the window and then I wondered where Geo went. He has to be in there. Right?
Jack pulled back in and the headlights blinded me making me wince and look away. The lights turned off and the door opened. Jack got out but so did someone else. I instantly froze in fear. Who was that, why were they here, what did they want? Why did Jack bring them? They both ignored my existence and walked right up to the room. There was not much sound and yet again the silence gave me such dread. Their shadows on the window seemed like stachues. No one seemed to be alive anymore.
It seemed like hours before they actually moved. They all opened the door and headed to the car. They got in. Jack went to the back door of the car and grabbed a back. He walked over to me and set the food next to me. He held eye contact with me and then started walking away. I called out.
"Wait how am I supposed to eat it"
He turned around half way and side glared at me. He then said,
"Figure it out"
My mouth fell open in shock. What was his attitude for? Also kind of rude to waste food. If that was the plan he should have never gotten it for me in the first place. The car started and the headlights once again blinded me. They slowly backed out and the giant door closed again. I could hear the car speed off. There was one light above my head that was on and nothing else. The darkness surrounded me in a circle. It was me just sitting there. My feet were free so I lifted them in front of me. I set my feet back down and scooted down a little bit. I could now stand with the chair and turn around to the table. I sat in front of the bag of food and wondered how I was going to get into it. I leaned into it and tried to use my teeth to pull down the bag. After I got that I looked at the box of food. My mouth watered as I could smell the sweet deliciousness inside. I leaned down to use my nose to push the box open. It opened and inside there was an array of vegetables and fruits. There was also some meat. A huge smile spread across my face. This looks so good it is almost too good to be true. I leaned down and started eating it the best I could. It was really hard because well the table was high so I had to kind of lean up and kind of twist to get to it. I could feel how messy I was being and how much of it was just all over my face. I felt like an animal and it really was hurtful. I really did appreciate him getting me this food though. I was starving. I do not even know if it is night or day anymore or even how long I have been gone. Jane must be worried sick about me. She really did take a liking to me. I did not expect that at first. She became like a mother figure to me. She always made sure I was okay and taken care of, always wanted to check in, always giving me a break when I needed one. Yet I never truly understood why. It was not like she had to or I even asked. She just did it.
I heard a clink behind me and I looked behind my right shoulder. I could see a shadow of someone out of the corner of my eye. They were way too far to see which one it was.
Are they back already? No why they are, I would have heard them . . . Right?
I chuckled nervously and said "you know it is very rude to not let me eat this and to let me just figure it out. I would've really appreciated it if-"
I look to my left because I see them walk next to me. I look at them and then something flies towards my face. Then everything just went dark.
