As my eyes opened the morning sun was gleaming through the thin curtains. It directly hit my eyes and I winced like a vampire. I tried to sit up but felt an incredibly sharp pain in the back of my neck and yet again I winced. I must of slept on it wrong. I gently messaged the back of my neck hoping to release some of the pain but it did not make a difference. I sat up and scooted to the side of my bed. I took a deep breath and looked around the room. It was dark and musky. It did not seem like there was any air. Theres nothing more annoying than waking up in a bad mood. Yeah I am still mad about last night. I have every right to be. I messed everything up like I normally do. I grabbed my shoes and put them on. Not even caring that I had last nights clothes on and I smelled a little. My heart beat was all I heard and I was shaking. I opened my front door and slammed it behind me as I turned Sage was standing right infront of me. Her eyes were red and puffy. There were tear stains on her cheeks. It looked like she had been biting her lips because they were a little bruised and red. I saw her chin shiver like she was about to cry again. She went to go reach out for me but I flenched back and walked the opposite direction. I clenched my jaw feeling my muscles tight and my face turn red, burning. My eye sight tunneled and all I could see was directly infront of me. My body was numb like I was not even in it anymore. My heart beat was racing so fast I wanted to run. So I did. I did not stop either. I ran and ran and ran till I was not in a familiar place anymore. I could not breath and my body felt like it was breaking apart. I fell to my knees coughing and shaking. The ground was cold as ice. I could not stop myself as I punched the dirt multiple times. Till my fist was bleeding and my bones felt like they were mush. I looked at my shaking hand in shock. The blood dripping down it slowly. I felt somthing cold on my face. I reached up and it was a tear. I looked around. I was in a forest? The trees were small and towering over me. The leaves rattling in the wind. As they swayed back and forth. I sat there and looked all around me. Nothing looked familiar. I never even knew there were trees around here other than that park near me but even then those were fake trees. Made of rubber. These were true trees. Like wood and stuff. The dirt was real too. Was I even alive anymore? I honestly have never seen a real tree. Do not laugh at me or even judge me okay. The only trees I've seen are the ones in the movies from like forever ago. Oh ew are there worms in this dirt. Oh my god their going to crawl into my skin and lay eggs. Oh I bet theres spiders. Nah I'm out. I get up, dusting off my knees. Wait I do not see foot prints. In the movies there is always foot prints from where they came from. Uh oh. Wait I think I see the edge of the forest. I start heading towards the clearing. My footsteps breaking twigs and crunching on leaves. I reach the edge and I can see the city but only the top of the highest building there is. How did I run this far. I must be miles away. This clearing only goes so far till theres more forest. How am I supposed to survive the night theres probably bugs like um uh. I do not know. This is the first time in a forest okay. What ever. I start heading towards where I think the city is. The grass was to my shoulders. All I could see was the tops of its blades. Swaying effortlessly in the wind. Its creating it's own music. I lift my arms up and let the grass tickle the bottoms of my arms. Felling the grass graze over my skin as I walked through. It made me giggle but also made me feel alive. The color was immense. Not one blade was the same color. I took a deep breath and for once I could without resistance. It felt smooth and cold. It smelled sweet. I took another step and my foot sank. I looked down and there was this dark goop eating my shoe. I tried to lift my foot up but it would not budge. It created a strange suction sound and every time I tried to lift it up it felt like it only got deeper into this strange goop. That happiness was now substituted by pure terror. I tried to use my other leg to hop and the whole ground wobbled and bounced like I was on some kind of bubble. I reached down and tried to get my shoe untied and the goop got on my hand. It stung like a burn and I wanted to scream it hurt so bad. I started to cry frantically trying to get my shoe untied. I got it untied and tried my best to pull my hand out. After several attempts it let go. I was not expecting it so I fell backward landing on my back. That pain in my neck shooting down my spine again. I groaned and looked down. My shoe slowly sank into the goop. I looked all around me not being able to see anything other than where I came from. The grass towering over me made it impossible to see anything. I started to walk back to the forest edge where I came from. Hoping on getting out of this stuff. I was to scared to run. Fearing I would fall through or pop this bubble. So I slowly walked. One foot on the cold bumpy ground. The other in my warm shoe. I walked strangely now. One side being taller than the other. I took a deep breath and started to sob. Knowing I was lost in a forest I have never been in before. Away from home. And I can not get back because of this pit of goop. The sun was going down past the tree tops and I started hyperventilating. Knowing I could never find my way back in the dark. As well as knowing I had no safe shelter. As I sat there in the darkness of the trees. I had a thrilling thought. What would Jane do?
