Chapter #6

September 14 4052, Ember Rose

The smell of rice and sweet peppers filled the room. As Sage and I ate delicious food. We sat there not saying a word just eating. As time passed on and I finished before her I wiped my mouth and set my fork in the sink. I grabbed my box of food and set it in the trash realizing I need to take it out. I looked over at Sage and noticed she was playing with her food.
I slowly walked over and quietly said.
"We can put it in the fridge and you can eat it tomarrow if your still going to be here"
She didnt move or speak and I was wondering why. I gently put my hand on her shoulder and she shrugged it off and put her food in the fridge. With out even looking at me she walked right past me and into the bathroom. What is her deal? Was it something I said? It may be because I said nothing at all. I gently let out a breath and walked over to my bed. I slowly sat down and noticed a release of pain in my back. Ouch there going to be a bruise in the morning, if there is not one there already. I started taking off my shoes and setting them next to my dresser. I then got in bed not caring that I am still fully clothed in the clothes I have been wearing all day. I closed my eyes and I heard the bathroom door open.i kept them closed and listened to see what Sage was going to do next. I heard her small footsteps get closer to me and I could not help but stiffen. As I kept my eyes closed I felt the bed dip a little. The sheet lifted and I could feel her gently get into bed. As I was laying on my back, my shoulder against the wall I almost wanted to roll over and cuddle but I have only known her for three days and shes a missing girl. I should not get attached but.....shes a good kid. I still need answers before I agree to keep this relationship going with her. Oh no, I forgot to set my alarm on my phone....that means I haft to get up and set it. She probably thinks I'm alseep.
I opened my eyes and looked over at her. She looked asleep. I gently pulled the sheet off of me and slowly got up. I was gently crawling over her and I was on top trying my best not to touch her. She suddenly opened her eyes. We stared at each other for a good minute before I got off and stood up. Ignoring that just happened. I got my phone and set my alarm. I wonder how red my face is right now? That was so akward. Have you ever done that before? Oh boy. Okay so I turned back around and she was still looking at me. Okay now I know my face is red. I walked over and crawled back over her trying not to look her in her eyes and layed back down. I flipped over on my side and put my forehead on the wall trying to cool my face a little. I heard her take a deep breath and exhale slowly. I mumbled into the wall.
"Wanna talk about it?"
I rolled back over and looked at her. She was just staring at the ceiling. I saw her trying not to cry. I sat up and looked down at her. She looked away from me and I just layed back down. I softly said.
"We dont haft to but we need to. We will another time"
I heard her softly wisper with a broken voice.
"They want to kill me"
Uh what excuse me! Dont pat it down for me or anything, okay. I looked over at her with a confused expression. I softly said.
"Who?"
She started crying. In a muffled voice she said.
"That man that visited you in the store. I was walking by when I saw him walk in there. When I got dinner...."
Poor kid not even an adult yet and already on the kill list. I wiped her tears away and gently said.
"Why"
She shook her head no. I looked at her with a please face and she softly whispered.
"I-I can uh cant tell you yet"
So I guess our relationship is put on hold for a while. I really hope it is not some big thing or something. Like she killed a bunch of people or stole someones drugs or something. I layed back down and stared at the ceiling. I saw her look over at me.
"Please dont tell them I'm here"
She barely even said that. I looked over at her and gently smiled. I softly said while wiping a single tear that was rolling down her face.
"Your safe with me"
