The chronic decision on risking my life for Jane or waiting it out. I looked into Sage's eyes and could not help but feel like I wanted to cry as well. It was either risking my life or waiting it out. Yet no matter how much I wanted to go, my head was right this time. I had to stay. I nodded my head yes. She let go of my arm. I walked past her and back to the bed. All I wanted to do was sleep so I could pass the time. I know I am not going to be able to because all I am going to do was overthink every little thing that was possible.
I sat on the edge of my bed and looked back up to the clock. There was no way she would be awake at this hour. If she was okay. Sage walked over to the bed and sat down next to me. She whispered "I know this probably won't help but I saw her a few days ago" I looked over at her and asked "a few days ago?" She started playing with her fingers and nodded yes. I patted her on the shoulder and said "I went missing a few days ago, no that does not help but thanks for the effort" She looked over at me. She bitterly said "yeah you did and I thought you were dead, I thought you left me just like they did" I quickly looked over at her and she was glaring at me. I blinked a few times in shock and said "how was that my fault!"
Her eyebrow raised and she started to cry harder. Then I quickly realized why I left in the first place. I took a deep breath and said "I'm sorry I left and I should have not stormed off like that" She scoffed. I shook my head and said "I should have been an adult and talked it out with you instead of running away like an immature child, yet here we are. In my defense I did not know there were people out there trying to kill me" She whispered "maybe you should open your eyes" I chuckled in disbelief and said "are you kidding me" She side glared at me and I said "want to remind me why they are trying to kill me in the first place?" She sniffled and said "you have a good point there" I nodded my head and said "since you got us in this mess in the first place, what's the plan?" She rubbed the tears off her face and sniffled again. After a pause of silence she said "we need to pay them the money I owe them" I raised my eyebrows and said "good one captain obvious, now how much is that?" She smiled and looked at me. I stared at her and she just shrugged her shoulders. I rolled my eyes and said "how do you not know?" she looked back at the floor and said "I was so excited to be alive and to tell her I was going to be okay I kind of just ran off" She got up and walked over to the pile of clothes on the floor and started digging through it.
She grabbed something and pulled out a handgun. My eyes widened in shock and fear. She pulled out the magazine and checked the ammunition then put it back in like she was a skilled killer. I put up my hands and stood up. I said "uh where did you get that and how do you know how to use it" She slowly just looked at me and smiled. She then pointed to her head and I knew what she meant. I nodded my head. She set it on the nightstand and said "just in case of emergency you have it and know where it is" I threw up my hands and said "I don't know how to use that!" She looked at me and said "point and pull the trigger, you will figure it out" I hysterically laughed and said "I am so fed up with everyone saying oh you will figure it out because so far all I have done is learned how not to die" She bit her lower lip in frustration as she blankly stared at me and said "yeah that's life" She started walking away and headed towards the bathroom. I calmly said "you know you aren't helping anything". Before she went into the bathroom she looked at me and smiled mischievously. She walked into the bathroom and closed the door behind her.
I walked over to the handgun and looked at it. I picked it up and it was a lot heavier than it looked. I decided to set it back down because I do not trust myself with holding that.
You guys I really do not know what to do because I still want to be friends with her still but not only is it illegal that she exists but she's the reason why I almost got killed. Yet she also did save my life.
I looked back up at the clock and saw that it was three hours till sunrise. I took a deep breath and decided that it would be best if I tried to sleep because I felt like I was sinking in sand. So I laid down and I instantly felt like a rock. My body hurt and my joints seemed to be stiff. Exhaustion took control and my eyes fought me to stay open, till they won. My eyes stayed closed and as I faded into the darkness of sleep, I heard the bathroom door open. As if I was already asleep I could hear the footsteps echoing towards me. Till they reached the edge of the bed and stopped.
