Pleaser To Meet You

Chapter 29

September 30th, 4052
    We all hovered over her and watched as her eyes slowly opened. They adjusted to the light and she blinked up at us. She looked at all of us and said "what happened" I started to cry again and this made her get scared a little but her dad got her attention by saying "what's our names" She looked at all of us again and said "Dad, Ember, and I don't remember you" Jane smiled and said "im Jane it's a pleasure to meet you" Sage smiled up at her and said "it's a pleasure to meet you" Sage sat up and wiped a tear off her dad's face and said "yall move I haft to use the restroom." we all moved aside and she stood up and almost collapsed again. Her dad grabbed her arm and walked her to the bathroom.
    Jane and I sat down on the edge of the bed. She took a deep breath and I looked over at her. She asked "so did you always know about her" I smiled and chuckled. Then I said "now thats a story I need to tell you" She says "oh boy" I turned and faced her as I sat crisscrossed in front of her. She faced me and I started telling her the story. I started off with "so the reason why I did not show up to work was because I kind of got kidnapped. So me and Sage got in a bit of a fight and I raged out and went for a little bit of a run. Well when I did that I happened to find myself in a forest" She cut in and said "wait you found the lost forest, the last one that exists" I smiled and continue "yeah, and man is it bizarre out there. So I got out there and it was very dark and I found this tar pit and almost got eaten by it and then I started to find my way out by these fireflies and then I saw the city lights and followed them that direction. There was a monster chasing me through the woods. Remind you I had no light so I was blindly running in the dark and dodging trees. When I made it out there waiting for me were some cyborgs. I named them Jack and Geo." Jane started dying laughing and said "so you tamed them"  I smiled and said " yeah I guess in the end I did but anyways when I found them at the end of the forest I had a choice, jump in the river and drown or get killed by cyborgs so I chose the cyborgs." Jane rolled her eyes and face palmed. I could not help but laugh and continue the story. "So they took me to their boss man and he was not happy because apparently I was the wrong one and that they needed to get the right one. I'm guessing they're talking about Sage. So then Jack and Geo took me to their warehouse thingy and tied me to a chair and basically just left me there. So, the heroic Sage got a gun and broke into the warehouse, knocked me unconscious and brought me back home" Jane squinted her eyes at me and said " I wondered what happened to her face but I honestly wasn't going to bring it up." I smiled and go "so yeah uh I had a valid reason for not showing up to work and I am sorry that I made you worry I just had no way of getting in touch with you" She put her hand on my shoulder and said "no need to worry I went out of town anyways" I frowned my eyebrows and said " yeah where did you go" She raised one eyebrow and smirked and said "dont worry about it" I smiled and say "oh wait now I just confessed about knowing the most taboo thing in all our district. At least give me hints" She smiled and said "relax I was just visiting my daughter" I squinted my eyes at her and said "oh okay sure" she laughed and said " I am being serious" I smiled and that's when Sage and Bert walked back out of the bathroom. I raised my eyebrows twice at Jane who rolled her eyes and gently slapped my shoulder.
    They all sat on the bed while I looked outside. The wind had stopped and the park trees were all broken and you could see the metal poles exposed and there were hanging wires everywhere. There was debris everywhere and random pieces of metal. Out in the distance you could see someone's feet under a pile of metal. Which was a tragic sight but also would probably explain who or why there was screaming. I could see a protrole heading through a street away. They had the medical staff as well as the enforcers. They found the person and checked on them. Yet instead of helping them they just left them. Pain stuck my heart at the sight but I ignored it. I closed the curtain and looked back at Jane, Sage, and Bert. Sage was in between them and they had a blanket wrapped around all of them. It's a cute sight to see.
    I smiled and said "so I am guessing we are all staying here" they all looked up and me and Bert nodded his head yes. Sage smiled and said "well we live here" I rolled my eyes and said "yes I know goof but I was referring to the other two" Jane yawned and said "sure I have no where better to be." I looked up at the time to see it was three in the morning. I said "well me and Sage can take the bed while you guys sleep on the floor" Bert smiled and said "okay" Jane agreed and we all went to bed. Each one found their spot and settled in.
