Chapter 34

October 2nd, 4052
    I awoke to the sun in my face again. Sage was pressed against my back with her arms wrapped around me. I looked at the clock and I had a few minutes till I needed to get ready for work. It was still cold and I could not help but pull the blanket up to my nose and hide under it. I remembered what I was thinking about last night and how I want to go back to the lost forest. I wonder if Sage could look it up. Yet she did say that she tracked my last tracks so it's very possible she can take me back.
    I looked back up at the clock to see it was time for me to get ready. I pulled down the covers and Sage moved for me but I am sure she is still asleep. I got up and I got dressed. I grabbed my keys and looked back at Sage to make sure she was still asleep. She was so I left.
    I headed down the sidewalk till I made it to the shop. It was open so I walked in. Jane was not at the front desk. So I walked down to the back and she was not there either. This made me worried a bit and looked at the time. It took me ten minutes to walk over here. So I will give her fifteen minutes till I go looking for her. I looked to see if she had fed the animals yet and she has. I walked over to Derek. He was coiled up in a big pile and was facing away from me. Then I turned around to see Stan tanning under his lamp. His eyes were closed and he was just enjoying it.
    I walked to the front desk and sat there for a moment.
Should I wait less or more time because I think that she is okay but if she is not that extra few minutes can save her life but if she is okay and I am just overthinking everything then that was a waste of time. Maybe she is okay because she fed the animals. Yet something could have happened to her, I do not know what to do.
    I noticed my breath started to get heavy and it was a little hard to breathe. My heart beat was racing and then I noticed that I was having a panic attack. My jacket felt like it was strangling me so I took it off. I threw it on the floor and I looked over to see Derek staring at me. I said "what the hell you staring at" he raised up so he was taller and I think that is because I offended him so I said "can you actually understand what I am saying?" he titled his head and lowered it. I dropped my jaw and walked over to him. I said "so if you can actually understand me come closer" He took a second and then came a little closer. I smiled and then said "open your mouth" He did and I got to see all his teeth and how it created a spiral of shark teeth in his throat. He closed it and then lowered his head so it was on the ground. He then looked at the door and then back at me. I laughed and said "no I am not going in there" He got closer to the glass and seemed like he was begging. I said "no you're going to eat me" he lifted his head quickly and shook his head and pretended to throw up. I chuckled and I said "we have not gotten that type of friendship yet buddy" He threw his head up and then coiled back up.
    Then I heard laughter and looked at the front door to see Jane and Bert walking in with coffees in their hands. I scoffed. I should have known that's where she was. Of course she was. I walked over to the front desk and said "well look who decided to show up" Jane looked at me and then Bert. Their smiles seemed to fade a little bit. She looked at me and said "oh don't give me that attitude" I snapped back "I warning would have been nice, like a hey i'm not abducted and am just getting coffee" She rolled her eyes and said "okay fine I am sorry you are right I should of said something" I crossed me arm over my chest and stared at her.
    She looked at Bert and said "thank you for stopping by and getting coffee with me. I really did have a great time" Bert smiled and said "I sure did too and thank you for letting me attend" He walked off and Jane walked in and had a smile on her face. She got to the back of the front desk with me and I said "that was cute and gross at the same time and I have zero idea how you managed to make that possible" She laughed and set her coffee down. I then said "so is that your new hubby" she quickly side glared me and said " do not ever say hubby again" I smiled and said "what I was trying to just use your lango" she turned towards me and said " no way that's my lango girl you got the wrong generation there" She turned back to the log books and I said "you never answered my question" she smiled and shrugged her shoulders not even looking at me. I said "oh come on why not" she simply said "we are too old to start that whole thing over again so we are just enjoying each other's company" I smiled and gently slapped her shoulder I whispered "enjoy every second of it" She smiled and continued to look at the book. She looked at me and said "how about you go home for today" I looked at her shocked and said "why" she said "because it's still dangerous for you to be here" Which she is correct, it is.
    I hugged her and left. I walked to my apartment and when I got there Sage was just going back in from getting our mail. She saw me out of the corner of her eye and looked at me. She looked scared and surprised and said "is everything okay" I said "yeah just came home early" she nodded her head and held the door open for me. When we got inside I looked at her and said "I need to ask a favor from you"
