Kabanata 30...
GalitI massage the bridge of my nose as I press the button on the intercom.
"Vil, I'll have the same lunch as yesterday na lang. Pakitawag na lang sa baba please,"
Bumuntong hininga ako at ipinikit ang mata habang marahang iginagalaw ang upuan. Rinig ko ang pagbukas at sara ng pintuan, pero pinanatili kong sarado ang mata.
My forehead creased when I heard nothing but heavy breathing and footsteps.
"Hindi ka pa nanananghalian?"
I slowly open my eyes and throw a blank face at Leon.
I'm not even surprised he's here.
"Wala ka nang pakealam kung anong oras ako kakain. Isa pa, what are you doing here?"
"It's past twelve! Hindi mo inaalagaan ang sarili mo. Are you starving yourself?"
"Don't be so OA. Ako naman ang magugutom,"
He glares angrily at me before walking harshly to the table between us and crashing his bag on it.
"Anong nangyayari sa'yo? Why aren't you taking care of yourself?" He glances at the paperwork before us. "Ganoon ba karami ang trabaho mo? Aanhin mo 'yan kung magkakasakit ka naman," ngiwi n'ya.
I laugh mockingly before glancing seriously at him.
"You have too many questions, Mr. Silva. If you didn't notice, I'm in the middle of my work so technically, you're bothering me." I faked a smile. "Besides, I asked first. What are you doing here?"
I'm being so calm here, why is he so pressed?
I just glare at him as I rest my back before crossing my arms. Ilang sandali pa kaming nagsukatan ng tingin bago s'ya suminghap at galit pa akong tiningnan at bumuntong hininga. Pormal itong umupo sa upuan kaharap ko.
"I have an appointment." He even raises his index finger.
Halos mapairap ako.
"The payments are already on its process, Mr. Silva. I already arranged it earlier and—"
"Tine," he uttered. "Drop the Mr. Silva please, just Leon for me."
I don't know what he's doing here, but I'm convinced he has an appointment since Vil didn't stop him from getting inside my office. I just don't get why he's hitting around the bush. He's a business man, he should know that time is important.
"I'm not here for business. I just want to talk,"
This time, I roll my eyes for real.
"Gusto ko lang magpaliwanag sa—"
My scoff made him stop.
"All is done, Leon. It's okay. Tito died in a car accident, Kristine's condition was critical, all was ganging up on you and you had to leave. I already know, I understand."
He just stares at me for a second before resting his back.
"My father didn't die in an accident, Tine."
Agad akong natigilan.
"What?"
"Come on, let's have lunch together before I answer your questions. I'll explain everything there,"
