Aspirations
Chapter 19Class 1B wasn't bad. You'd been with them the last couple of days, getting to know them. You'd gotten into the swing of turning up during their Foundational Hero Studies or any special class that Vlad King planned for them. That way you could help the students recover and focus better during the day. A few days of that made you feel like maybe you'd gotten into a good routine for your job. What made the job harder was that unlike with 1A you weren't given names, quirks, and the like in book format. You had to put names to faces to quirks yourself. On that you were failing. But being around the kids more often helped.
"I'll have your quirk mastered in no time," Monoma bragged as extended his own tendrils from his body by about a foot.
"When you figure it out, let me know," you said with a smile. "I'll have Vlad King break your legs and see how fast you can knit them back up."
You laughed at the look on his face. You nudged him with your shoulder as you looked out at the other students who were practicing with their quirks. Monoma was also practicing; he was practicing with your quirk at the moment. Just because he could copy someone else's quirk didn't mean he had the strength everyone else built up with them or the level of skill that everyone had worked for with them. Like right now he could only extend the reconstructing tendrils about a foot away from the body.
"I'm joking," you laughed again as his eyes returned to normal. "He'll only need to break one as a test."
And right back to the look of surprise again. You couldn't shake the smile you had on your face at the thought of what thoughts were running through Monoma's head.
"You do know what bones are mostly made of right?"
"Calcium," Monoma said with a cocky sort of tone.
You shook your head. "Collagen fibers, a type of protein formed after your body makes procollagen. Glycerin and proline, along with vitamin C and copper, combine to make procollagen. Over time your body turns the procollagen into collagen fibers to support bone growth or health. My body, because of my quirk, breaks down all proteins into amino acids to use for energy and repair before going for the carbs, sugars, and fats. But it helps speed everything up if you already have the right ones on hand. Plus you have to know what the tendrils have to inject into a person before knitting everything back."
"Why are you telling me this?" He asked in a fluctuating pitch.
You had the feeling that he knew exactly why. You could see the knowledge of the truth in his eyes. You readied yourself for what you needed to do. Though really it was more like ready yourself so you didn't chicken out.
"You have about 7 and a half minutes left of my quirk. That should be enough time."
You stood up despite Monoma's protests. The blond got up quickly to follow you to where his homeroom teacher was watching everyone with a satisfied look on his face. Tapping him on the arm got his attention.
"Break one of my fingers."
Oh look, you made his smaller eyes a bit bigger in surprise! You took that as an accomplishment.
"What?" He asked in a tone of utter surprise.
"I want Monoma to practice with my quirk. The best way to do that is hands on. And he has about 7ish minutes left. Enough time plus some to repair a bone as small as a finger. I'm just too much of a wuss to do it myself."
He looked a little startled and concerned. You watched the big man look towards Monoma. Said blond was shaking his head to try and dissuade the teacher. You, however, looked set on your coarse of action.
