Aspirations
Chapter 66The time you'd spent looking in a mirror that day eclipsed most of your other days by far. But that was only to be expected. After all, you were going out to dinner with the number one hero of Japan.
For the life of you, you still had no idea why he'd sent such a formal invitation. He could have scheduled a session and asked you in person. The fact that he hadn't done that fed more into the formal vibe that you'd gotten. Which was why you'd spent more time looking in a mirror as you got ready than the sum of the whole month prior.
It wasn't anticipation that drove you so much as curiosity. Why? Why had he sent you the dinner invite?
You did another half turn as you looked in the mirror to make sure that you seemed presentable. You'd spent at least an hour that day browsing the internet for hair hacks before settling on a style you felt suited you. You'd kept the makeup light - fresh looking for business rather than romance. The dress you'd finally found amongst your clothes even fit better than you remembered. That was probably because you'd been exercising more than you used to ever since you'd moved onto UA's campus. The cut and color of the dress was classy enough to be a cocktail dress so you hoped that was fine. The best part, in your opinion at least, was the elegant lace that made up a sleeve before forming something like a sash across your body, falling down over the opposite hip. You paired that with some practical kitten heels and a singular necklace to complete the look.
You had to admit - you looked cute.
It was a pretty extreme divergence from your normal wear. Which, to put it nicely, prized functionality over style. So dressing up for a formal event almost made you seem like a completely different person. Class 1A must have thought so too because the moment you reached the common area, you drew a lot of eyes. The excitement from the female population alone shifted the entire mood of the place.
Mina called your name out playfully and wolf whistled which made you laugh.
"Professor Aizawa isn't going to know what hit him!" Hagakure cheered as, based on the direction of her shirt, she turned around on the couch.
Somehow that made you laugh harder. It was funny how they thought their teacher was the kind of man to plan out a date. He was many things but romantic in the usual sense wasn't among them. And you didn't blame him in the least for that. He had many important duties; if he shirked any of them in favor of a fancy dinner, it would have been odd.
"Aizawa has patrol duty tonight I think," you told the two enthusiastic girls.
And cue a cascade of surprised sounds. You shifted your knee length coat to the other arm as the girls recovered. The fledgling heroes recovered from that small surprise as they did with many other things.
"Then who? Hawks? I thought you said the two of you weren't dating anymore!" Invisible Girl jumped to the next logical bachelor.
"I can't believe you'd cheat on Teach like that!" Mina was aghast at the assumption.
"Not Hawks."
The room suddenly felt like it was buzzing a bit more. Apparently amidst being expected to risk their lives like adults with none of the actual rewards of being an adult, your private life was like Class 1A's very own Soap Opera. They'd seen your arrival. They had noted your working relationship with the previous number one hero. The whole class knew you'd gone with Todoroki to see his father, the current number one hero, and you'd bet your salary that some of them had put two and two together with that situation. They had seen a brief period where you had been dating one of the most eligible men in all of Japan (Hawks). Though they hadn't been privy to what had caused it they'd known about the split and subsequent rise of the relationship you had with their Teacher.
