Aspirations
Chapter 39Getting Aizawa rehydrated was a little more difficult than your usual party tricks. It required you to drink two bottles of water in front of him as he sat on the bed staring at you. Then you had to pretty much inject the water to all the right areas in his body while you cleaned him out at the same time. All those same toxins were squeezed into the empty water bottles before you excused yourself to wash your hands. Or rather the tendrils that came out of your hands.
As you worked, you had felt his heavy gaze following your every movement. You took a bit longer washing down then you really needed as you let out a shuddering breath. You could still feel him on your skin, feel the intensity and questions he hadn't asked about. It threatened to drown you like a river of sweet wine.
When you came back out of his wash room, you wanted to turn right back around. Aizawa had his weight leaned back onto his arms. The tension in his arms defined the muscles in a way that it was hard to draw your attention away from. His hair was pushed out of his face unlike his usual, unlike how he'd answered the door.
'Down girl. Down.'
You closed your eyes to try and shake the less-than-helpful thoughts from your mind. Aizawa had made it clear where he stood on any sort of relationship. He trusted you in some things but you were somewhere between his student and not - too childish to be anything more. Damn whatever Recovery Girl and President Mic said to the contrary.
You took a deep breath and let it out slowly as you asked. "Feel better?"
Aizawa nodded.
You forced a smile to your face. Though you notice that as you did, Aizawa frowned.
"Where did you learn to cure a hangover like that?"
"Asking as a hero who is sworn to uphold the law or a friend?" You tried to joke though in all honesty it was a serious question.
It wasn't like you wanted your past actions to come back and bite you in the ass. You weren't entirely sure if there was a statute of limitations on what you'd done in the past, much less how long it would have been.
"A friend," Aizawa said in a slow tone, his eyes regarding you cautiously despite that.
"I picked it up as a way to help pay my way through school after High School," you divulged honestly. "Lots of college kids used to drink and regret it in the mornings. Especially come Monday mornings; paying for a quick hangover fix was worth it. It's just been a while since I've done that so I'm a little rusty."
His cautious look shifted to surprise then to light admonishment. You shifted in your spot for a moment. You really did feel like a little kid about to get a scolding from the teacher when he gave you that look. Though as you decided what to do the scold never came.
You started towards the door and almost made it out before he called out your name.
"Wait," he said quietly. When you stopped you heard him stand up from the bed. "Close the door."
Shit was he going to lecture you over past transgressions?
You could feel when your inner ears readjusted themselves as they focused on every little sound he made. Especially when you heard him taking larger strides than normal. Though he'd told you to close the door you hadn't done that. You kind of wanted it open in case he really did decide to lecture you on quirk morality. After all of his hypocritical lectures you weren't exactly in the mood for more judgement.
"Eri is with Mirio right now."
Well. That was not what you were expecting.
You tilted your head to the side as you tried to figure out where that had come from. Had you asked about Eri when you'd come in? You didn't think you did. If you had he probably would have told you sooner. You turned back to look at him, the question 'what' written all over your face. Your eyes widened when you realized that he stepped in closer as he started to turn around.
