Aspirations
Chapter 43You almost fell into a trance state as you worked on the small, but very important, muscles of a hand. There were calluses on the hand but compared to most people you were used to dealing with, they still felt newer, softer even. You could have removed them for her but you knew that Kendo would be better served by having them. Her quirk revolved around her hands and the tougher they got, the better off she'd be in the long run.
As you finished working on the student, you moved on to the next one in the gym. Then the next and the next. You stayed quiet to be the least intrusive you could be. Not just for the students' sake either. You really were trying to make sure that neither Vlad King or Aizawa had any reason to interrupt you. The former might not have been so bad but having Aizawa there made things feel weird. After the kind of week you'd had you were trying to ignore the weirdness till it went away.
The good thing about having both hero course classes hitting the gym at the same time was that they were competing; pushing each other to do more and more. Or at least some of them were. Normally that could get dangerous as they might push their bodies too far. But with you there the damage or danger of that was greatly reduced.
Although Angry Boy seemed to be directly in conflict with Tetsutetsu; which was odd as it was usually Kirishima that went head to head with his class 1B counterpart. Though perhaps it wasn't so odd as Bakugo was an extremely competitive person by nature and so far Tetsutetsu was the physical strongest student in his class. Watching them try to one up each other in the weights with Tetsutetsu not using his quirk was amusing. Concerning, but amusing. Especially as they were still going at it even though school had officially been released for the day and most of their classmates had long since hit the showers.
Knowing that Aizawa or Vlad King would keep the boys safe, even from themselves, and get them off when they no longer wanted to watch them, you moved away from your all seeing station. You pulled off your thicker outer shirt layer and hung that over the arm of the treadmill as you got on. You still had on a thin outershirt as well as a double layered, supportive sports bra so you were appropriate within a school's gym but there was no way you could comfortably jog in full winter wear.
You stuck on one side of your headset and turned on some music to provide some entertainment. You started out fast and then moved to slow until your heart evened back out. At which point you set yourself at an uphill run. You had calories to burn and your health to keep up. You could have done resistance or weight training but with the boys in that area, you 'd rather just not. They put off way too intense of an air.
After a couple of minutes of the pace you set, you were surprised that a student started up on the machine beside you. You had thought that aside from Bakugo and Tetsutetsu all the other students had one. Apparently Todoroki had just disappeared for a little bit to make a reappearance. Once the surprise faded you got back to concentrating on doing your best and not dying from heat or tripping on your own two feet while the speed fluctuated. The former seemed the hardest, to be honest, as somehow it felt more embarrassing to pant and sweat in front of a student who hadn't even seemed to get out of breath yet. Which meant that you were doing your best not to seem like you were oxygen starved, only making you feel hotter in the process.
You shivered when the air around you cooled. Considering that it was coming from the exact same side Todoroki was on, you looked over him in surprise. He was practically sparkling on his right side as he released air so cold from his body that he created a localized fog bank. After heating up so much the cold air hurt in all of the best ways. You slowed your machine down before pausing it. You held the supports for a second as your legs got the message that they didn't have to run in place.
