Aspiration
Chapter 37

Toshinori let out a deep breath. When he exhaled his breath turned into mist as the temperature continued to drop. With as thin as he currently was, he was bundled up in large jackets to keep warm; ones he'd put on after he'd left your room. Currently he was sitting on the porch to Class 1A's dorms, waiting for the inevitable. He didn't have to wait long as Aizawa walked up the pathway with more purpose in his step than his normal sluggish, rounded walk. Though all things considered it still wasn't exactly a hurried pace.

"Aizawa," Toshinori called out, standing up.

"Yes?" Aizawa asked as he stopped a couple feet from the older man.

"We should go get a drink, the two of us."

"Later. Tomorrow," Aizawa agreed in his own way.

The blonde winced as he realized that Aizawa had started to walk past him. It was obvious he was headed up to your room. That may have seemed like a great idea to the homeroom teacher but Toshinori knew that it really wasn't. He reached out one hand towards Aizawa's shoulder to stop him from going inside.

"Wait."

"What is it?" Aizawa asked in a grumbly tone. "What happened? Did Bakugo or Midoriya get into a fight again?"

"No," Toshinori said with a long drawn out breath. "She has a visitor already."

Aizawa blinked as he looked towards Toshinori's severe looking face. There was no point in asking which "she" the older man was referencing. If it had been one of his students, Principal Nezu would have informed him. Which meant that you must have someone there. He tried to think of who it could be but he could only think of one...maybe two people.

"Recover Girl won't care," Aizawa said as he started forward.

Toshinori gripped his shoulder tighter. "It's not Recovery Girl."

"Her father?" Aizawa asked as he frowned.

From what little he'd gleaned, that was unlikely. Recovery Girl said that you didn't get along with your father. Considering the fact that you never talked about him, Aizawa was sure that was putting it nicely. Still crazier things had been happening this year. He couldn't rule out a family reunion as everyone ushered in the new year. For all he knew you might have been trying to reconcile; the impending pregnancy could have made you start looking at your family ties once more.

His confusion was only compounded when Toshinori shook his head slowly.

"Then who?"

"Hawks."

________________________________________

"You are good," Hawks said in a tone of appreciation.

He had his arms resting on the back of your couch, head practically flopped on them. Due to his wings you had to get creative so he was kneeled on your couch with his back to the TV. You had moved the coffee table out of the way to give you plenty of room to massage his exposed back.

After a brief period of trial and error you had learned to move everything out of the way of his wings. They had a tendency to expand and contract as you worked on not only his shoulders but down his spine. Or the vast majority of it at least.

"I know," you said with a small smile. "But seriously if you thought this was good, you'll think I'm a goddess when you come in to the office so you can lay down in the chair."

"I think you'll need to have a new one designed for me. Feel free to bill my agency for the full cost."

"Why?" You asked, perplexed. "Laying on your stomach shouldn't impede your wings and as long as you're as careful as you can be not to knock me over, I don't see why..."

You realized that he'd been joking, at least in part, when he turned around. To do so he had to stand up and you were casually acquainted with his eager lower half for the couple of seconds it took him to sit (purch) down on the edge of your couch. You rolled your eyes at the grin on his face. The smile was one part embarrassed, another part cocky - pun completely intended.

"If you're worried about damaging anything, don't. The padding on the chair helps to disburse the pressure. Little to no possibility of damaging your chance of having kids in the future," you started off serious, ending in a teasing tone.

"Good, a lot of people will be relieved."

"Hmm, I'm sure," your slight teasing tone hadn't let up. "Especially those thousands of fangirls."

"Not to mention my new girlfriend," he said as his wings spread out so that he could relax his arms over the back of the couch.

You tried to project a bland stare. You really did. But you were struggling remaining neutral. He looked so...good like that. He looked so relaxed and natural with his visor and headphones off. It was like he was trying to offer his body for you to appreciate but at the same time, as you tried your utmost to keep your eyes on his face, there was a wicked look in his eyes. He had the casual confidence of a top predator in their natural habitats.

You focused a second too long apparently. You hadn't seen his wings moving in to scoot you in. Your legs buckled and you ended up in a partial kneeling position on his lap, hands falling onto the top of his shoulders to help break your fall.

"I take it back," you said as you glared at him.

That glare might not have been all that effective. You weren't able to put your all into it as you were trying to keep yourself up off of his lap. Somehow sitting down on his tented, slightly colored pants and possibly leaving a damp mark when you got up seemed like it would be embarrassing. So you were trying to avoid that. But damn if you didn't want to rock down and forward at that moment.

"What's that?"

"Hmm? Oh right. I'm not that good. We should never do that again."

"I enjoyed it. And I think when you're ready you'll enjoy the after affects too," Hawks postured as he spread his wings back out.|

Now see you could have gotten off of him at that point. He'd expected that you would. The honest truth was that you were having a hard time understanding, or better yet accepting, what was happening. The number 2 hero in all of Japan was underneath you. And he'd been teasing you all night. If you said 'yes' there was the chance you'd solve a quandary you were faced with. And it would be one experience you could cross off your bucket list.

Remember your commitment, Angel.

Right...you'd been warned against having sex that same morning. It seemed really stupid to be told to be careful one minute and then do exactly what you weren't supposed to the next. Finally you pushed yourself back from him as you closed your eyes, clumsily standing up and backing away.

"I can't," you said and even you had to admit it was in an unusual tone. Longing, guilt, regret, confusion, and a bunch of other emotions clouded your expression as you looked at him. "I—we've only known each other—-uh, not that long. And I'm still sorting out things...and right now I'm...I mean, I can't."

"Relax. No pressure," Hawks said as he stayed in his spot.

Damn it he looked good in that spot.

"No pressure? Really?" You asked as you motioned towards him in a near-flailing manner. "Tonight has been all pressure. All pressure and teasing."

Hawks' pleasant look faded. "I'm sorry. I'm just used to getting everything done so quickly that I might have overdone it. I didn't come here to pressuring you for sex or anything near it. That's not what I had planned for tonight. I liked teasing you too much and got carried away. But I can see I tried to skip too many levels too quickly so I'll dial it back a notch. We can move at a speed you're more comfortable with from now on. There's all the time in the world."

There really wasn't. Within the next two months you planned on being pregnant. That seemed like a game stopper for a relationship this new and everything. But you nodded anyways. The oddest part was the look in his eyes. They seemed somehow to reflect your own thoughts back at you. That time was coming to an end really quickly but he didn't have the heart to tell you that. There wasn't anger or judgement in his eyes. There was just...sadness and worry.
