"Alright, bella." Alice flipped through her pocket planner as we walked, her pen clicking in her hand, "I've booked the hotel, and all of the details for Rocky Horror are set. The only thing you need to worry about is finding a date, can you do that?"
I could feel myself pull a face of repulsion, and for a split moment my eyes roamed the hallway- quickly examining the greasy, sweaty high school boys around me. I had no interest- not that I expected any of them to return interest in me anyways.
"I don't know Alice, maybe you should invite Rosalie and Jasper instead." I sighed, washing away the face of disgust as a pushed the thought of the boys out of my mind. Alice shook her head with disapproval. She had her heart set on taking me, and whichever boy I'd choose. It was a private thought, however, when I had agreed to go when the plans were first made, I'd hoped Edward would go with me. It just made sense. Alice, Jasper, Me, and Edward. Now that idea was out of the question... almost, at least...
"Your name is on the tickets," Alice explained, folding her little book back up and sticking it in her spiky designer purse. I frowned again as we were about to part ways. We paused in the hall the say our goodbyes. I eyed the door, peeking through the window to see Edward waiting in his seat, looking at his books with distant concentration. "It has to be you!"
Off to biology. Another hellish class next to Edward. Though we'd left on... somewhat manageable terms... I wasn't particularly enthused to surrender myself to his entitlement again.
"Alright I'll find someone to go with." I sighed, pulling another inconspicuous face of disgust. I didn't want to seem ungrateful, so I pushed it off again. I peered in the classroom again, Edwards eyes now contently on me. "I'll see you later?"
Alice nodded, practically prancing off in her heeled boots. I watched her spiky hair disappear into the gushing stream of students, rushing to get to class on time. The bell was about to ring. I groaned under my breath.
"Good afternoon, Bella." Edward said as I took my seat. His voice was disgustingly calm. All I offered was a dry, yet polite nod in response, and I flipped open my book. Surly he knew how frustrating I found him, surly he wouldn't subject me to an hour of torturous small talk. Or maybe he would- just to entertain himself.
« Edwards Point Of View. »
I knew Bella. Even if I couldn't see into her mind, I could see her emotion in the way her eyebrows were positioned, or the corners of her lips sat. She tried to conceal it, but I could tell she was nervous to be so close to me- nervous to have to interact with me. Good. Maybe your instincts are finally back in check. My thoughts growled. I considered pushing for a conversation- my desire for her attention, to hear her voice, was uncontrollable.
My desire for her to take notice of me had grown stronger than my desire for her blood had ever been. I was so hungry for her.
Starving. I tempted myself for a moment, breathing in her scent through my mouth. It was shallow, but it was enough to feel my darkness shadow over me.
I was her natural enemy. It's how things had to be. This was good, for the best even. I imagined ripping her throat open and the mere seconds I would have to ravish her thick blood before it began to cool.
