"You're taking everything surprisingly well." Quill said, dispute the way my eyes were glued to the forest floor, I could hear the size of the grin through his voice.

"Well I've always hoped stories were real, you know what I mean?" I said, smiling a little myself as I navigated my way through the sticks and foliage on the ground. "I just- werewolves." I sighed, breathless both from the fact of what I was saying and the effort it took not to trip on the roots and foliage on the ground. "I mean just think, if werewolves are real, what else could be real?" My mind wondered for a moment- past the realms of reality- or what I'd always known to be reality. I wasn't sure what that was now. "Demons, Ghosts, Frankenstein's Monster?" They were all just imaginary ideas coming from tall tales or novels. "Vampires?" I looked to Jake, hoping his expression would give away some of the worlds secrets- surely he knew more than he was letting on. He always did seem too.

I had allowed my mind to drift too far into my imagination, and too much focus was on jakes expression. Though it was only for a second, concentration I had been putting into keeping myself upright slipped for a moment. The top of my boot got caught under a thick tree root that had been tucked under some foliage, and I stumbled, nearly crashing to the dirt.

"Watch yourself, Bella." Jake gripped my arm and steadied me, holding me for a moment. He looked as if he'd forgotten my question about the worlds other mysteries. He smirked slightly, still holding onto me as if he were afraid to let me go. "You don't want to scratch a nail, do you?"

"Oh shush, Jake." I rolled my eyes and pulled myself away. Quill and Embry had moved forward about fifty feet to a clearing in the trees. I noticed two large oaks with thick trucks going up into the air- and on them were what appeared to be two huge dart boards.

"So what are we doing here, anyways?" I finally questioned, my mind no longer thinking about any other supernatural possibilities. Quil nudged Embry with a laugh who went digging in his bag.

"Jake didn't tell you?" He asked, eying Jake with subtle shock. I looked up at Jake who had a small, devilish smile cross his face. "Jake you are bad." He cackled. "The police chiefs daughter doesn't know what she's about to get herself into, does she?"

Embry pulled a small handgun out of his bag- a model I didn't recognize from Charlie's collections. I took a step back, worried for a brief moment about the news articles about young girls lured into the forest by boys. I looked to Jake, who clearly saw the sudden fear in my eyes. He laughed and threw an arm around me.

"Relax, Loca." He shook his head as he smiled, taking the gun from Embry. "We're gonna teach you how to shoot the thing. It's fun." I watched with wide eyes as he let me go, and carefully pointed the gun to what had appeared to be dart boards. Fun. Was this a boys version of fun? I couldn't stop my mind wondering to Edward. I imagined his hands wrapped around the gun Jake was holding. The similarities to the one in the alleyway was horrific. For some reason it didn't make sense- Edwards hands, though in a constant state of cold, were always so inviting to me, so warm. The way the wrapped around that gun was confusing- it seemed like, for just a brief moment in that alleyway, Edward Cullens hands comfortable hands were so perfectly gripping that stupid, stolen pistol.

Jake and the boys roughhoused, fighting for who got the already cocked gun first. It was so dangerous, so... horrifying. If one of their fingers slipped one of us could get shot- or worse end up dead.

I imagined again Edward holding that gun, the fury, the blackness of his eyes. They were so cold- but so serious. Nothing like the packs eyes- nothing like Jakes. He was protecting me- and even himself, though his skin appeared to be stone like and impenetrable.
