Trouble : Twilight (Edward Cullen x Bella Swan.)

"You're going to need to tell her the truth, Edward." Alice sighed with a frown. She stood over me at the end of the booth; her arms crossed tightly over her chest. I had been watching through Alice's thoughts as Bella confided in her in the bathroom. I couldn't tell her. She would hate me more if she knew I was such a monster. . "You're so smart Edward. So why can't you see that the deception is ruining your relationship with her. She's going crazy trying to understand. It's making her unhappy."

I winced at the thought of making her unhappy. It was something I took no joy in, but keeping her human- keeping her safe- was my priority. Alice had seen the visions in the past, ones of Bella where her eyes were not her own, where her delicate skin was no longer just pale- it was just a washed out chalky white. She was beautiful, but she no longer had human warmth.

I could never take her soul. The vision would never become reality.

"She would never understand." I said bitterly looking away. If there were any remains of my human heart left in me, they ached for Bella. Stealing her life though would be selfish.

"She knows about the wolves, Edward. You may as well just tell her true truth about us. It's likely she will accept it." Jasper sighed, agreeing with Alice. I glowered at them both, angry that they were teaming up against me on this. How dare they suggest I expose Bella, my Bella, to something so dangerous- to turn her into something so dangerous.

"I hate that she knows about the wolves." I hissed gritting my teeth together. "If I had it my way she would never step foot on that reservation again. They're too unpredictable, too out of control."

"You can't control her, Edward. She's too curious. She's too smart." Alice sat down across from me. Jasper nodded, agreeing again. "She knows something is off about us. It's only a matter of time before she puts the pieces together herself. You could save her a whole lot of trouble by telling her the truth now."

"Alice, are you absolutely and entirely insane?" I clenched my hands into fists.

"Just think about it." Jasper said, his eyes gave me a warning. I could feel the monster within me, the venom pulsed quicker through my veins. I had considered it, and decided it would only cause more problems. If she knew the truth- if she still chose me and if she asked me to take her soul- to change her... I feared that I wouldn't be able to say no. I would be greedy, and doubted my ability to refuse such a temptation. Bella Swan would make being cursed to a soulless eternity into heaven. It would be I ust us. Forever. No wolves. No high school dramatics. We could explore art, and culture. We would travel, and overtime Esme and Carlisle would become true parental figures for her as well. Alice could be her sister. She would settle in. But the price for my perfect eternity was too much.

To take her soul?

"I can't." I hissed. "I have to protect her." I left out the part about how it was my own selfish desires I had to protect her from.

I'm sorry to have to do this to you, but it's for your own good. I could feel my anger subside and my body relax. Jasper was manipulating my mood, something he hated to use on his own family. I sighed, the frustration leaving my body. Our waitress came up to us, balancing two trays- the drinks on one and the steaming plate of nachos on the other. I felt an odd sort of calm as she stood in front of me, preparing to make another advancement. I focused on tuning out her thoughts.

"Fresh from the kitchen." She winked at me. I smiled, trying to be polite. That's when I heard footsteps, fast ones. It was Bella, she was quickly heading towards us. Her face was pale. Pale beyond the makeup Alice had done on her. She had tears running down her cheeks, the eyeshadow was a smear now across her face. Mascara ran down her cheeks.
