Woah a new chapter! Idk why but I got the sudden urge to finish this fix soon, so more chapters are in the works. There's just so much drama going on in this story! The enemies to lovers is real. Sorry for the years of slow burn! ;) I can hardly keep up with myself. hehe.

« Edwards Point Of View »

"Vampires Alice? You can't seriously have been stupid enough to enable such an absolutely awful idea!" I was was upset, standing at the end of her bed. She was sitting there, her suitcase packed as if we were leaving for a week rather than a weekend. She folded a pair of pants-
A fifth pair of pants- and tucked them into her case. Finally, all done. She thought, smiling at her suitcase. How Alice could agree to dressing up as vampires, the way it could expose us- I could hardly think. Alice worked her magic in such mysterious ways. I had my Bella back, another chance. I needed the weekend to go well- no risks, no arguments. Bella was so stubborn, and I had to convince her to work with me. To stop asking questions. Feeding into a vampiric fantasy had too many risks. "The danger that it could put us in- that it could put her in-"

"Edward. Relax." Alice cut me off, a casual sigh. She didn't care- her visions told her the truth. There was no danger. It would be one night of dress up. Nobody would suspect a thing. But Bella... she was smart, if she made the connection I wouldn't know what to do, what to say. How to explain the truth, that we were nothing short of monsters. "There is no danger. It's Halloween- a little game of dress up for the humans. If anything, we'll be fitting in."

She smiled slightly, a vision running through her mind. The costumes, the makeup, Alice's black dress and jaspers white shirt, stained with fake blood, the fishnet tights Bella would be wearing under a black leather skirt- I could feel my body tense at the idea. A confusing pleasure- excitement to see her bare skin, a delicious treat I got so rarely. But it was so exposing, I hated the thought of others looking at her, craving her the way I did. She was mine.

"Alice, if anything goes wrong;" I breathed, hating myself for using such a tone with my family. "Anything,"

Alice interrupted again, ignoring the intensity I spoke with.

"Edward we will be fine." She said, her voice was cheery. There is no danger. When I didn't respond she spoke again, this time rolling her eyes. "Would you rather she take her little dog friend?" She retorted.

Alice and I both made faces of disgust at the thought of Jacob, someone who neither of us cared for at all. My deep distaste for the boy had grown into a form of hatred since he had abandoned her at the party. I imagined him going with her- the sick irony of a werewolf dressing up as a vampire. I wanted to believe he would never agree to it, but I was sure he would enjoy the mockery of our kind. I imagined them sleeping beside each other, having their separate dreams in the same bed. Jacob did not belong there at Bella's side, holding her, touching her.

That was my place.

"No, but she wouldn't have gone with him." I said firmly. I ignored the doubt in my mind. Bella had said that she had feelings for me, not him. She was just confused, and that was to be expected of a human like her. Her mind wouldn't be able to comprehend us. She didn't know how to process our differences. Part of her hated me and I knew it- I had gaslit her, and got into her head. I knew it was wrong, but I had to keep her away from our secret, and now I had to keep her from the wolves too. After the party earlier this week I knew it was the right thing to do, even if it felt wrong. The careless behaviour was just further proof that she had no sense of self preservation- she needed me.
