(This poem is inspired by Wonder by Shawn Mendes, I highly recommend listening to Wonder to feel the full experience. <3 )
Living in cold blues
My skies were ripples of water
Light far above
Only a dream.
the waves engulf me
Dragging me down, drowning
"it's okay."
I believed.
My fingertips reaching out
Close enough
A little bit more
Closer.
"darling."
Arms yanked me away
Eyes looking at me, "undeserving."
Yet again, I believed.
Hours turned days turned months
Drained, bloodshot eyes
I yearn for the light
I reach out.
Wind laced its fingers to mine
I unshackled my chains
Let go, I rise
Basking in the light, I glow.
I look in awe
As colors come to life
Unsure and scared
Drenched in freedom.
Melancholy slowly leaving my veins
Replaced by newly found comfort
"you're okay."
I smiled and believed.
in the midst of it all
I stood
arms stretched wide open
I can finally breathe.
