After dumping our groceries, we decided to pass by Daiso to humor Valentina.
Leo likes Daiso anyway, which means he was happy about it too. It figures. He's a cheapskate, after all. He ignored the seal plushies and ran straight to the kitchen utensils (most of which, if you ask me, are cheap gimmicky gadgets made out of flimsy plastic that isn't worth much anyways).
Valentina immediately squealed at the plushies, making me chuckle. She turned towards me, sulking.
"What are you laughing at?" she demanded.
"Nothing," I chuckled.
Valentina raised an eyebrow. "Just because you guys let your toxic masculinity prevent you from enjoying cute plushies doesn't mean I have to as well," she pouted. I laughed awkwardly.
I stared at the stationery section, admiring the stickers and food-themed pens and pencils. I remembered when we were kids, Marie would often show up to school with the pink and green macaron erasers, the pastel rainbow ink pens, the sushi hairclips, and the kitty paw mousepad, not to mention countless Sanrio Hello Kitty pencil cases.
Every Asian girl had them.
Not that I was jealous of them, of course.
Or was I?
Hard to tell when you actively tried to forget and separate yourself from anything childhood-related. The only good memories that I allowed myself to keep were all of Marie.
