"Why did you order a cup of hot water?" Leo asked, confused. "We're eating hotpot."
I shrugged. "I like things hot too," I replied.
Valentina made a face. "Why, do you like spicy food too?"
"I love spicy," I replied, dead serious.
Valentina made a face. "Eugh. Sorry, I have the tastebuds of a baby, I guess."
"Your parents didn't feed you spicy food as a child?"
"No they didn't!"
"Shame," I smirked, and she swatted at me with her fork. "What a shame."
Unable to wait for our hotpot, Leo and I ordered several plates of appetizers, which we immediately began to work on.

Leo used the chopsticks to bring the bok choy to his mouth, crunching and slurping loudly and clearly enjoying the oily oyster sauce they were soaked in.
I then attacked a plate of pork belly, smacking my lips and wiping off drops of garlic oil from the corner of my mouth. Leo grabbed pieces of spicy tangy beef and mixed them in with his eggy rice, offering some to Valentina who declined.
