Where the FUCK is Leo?

It's been a hot minute since he abandoned me to die with this British doofus.

"...And so, you see, there wasn't much other option than for me to jump straight into it, you know," Dean continued to ramble. I sighed and hid my face in my hands.

Near us, a group of girls was lining outside of the bar and trying to get the bouncer to overlook the max capacity for them.

"Right," I pretended to readjust my mask to hide a yawn. "Of course. No other option."

One of the girls groaned out loud as the bouncer snapped her fake ID in half and handed her a lollipop instead.

How much longer is he going to go on about this? At this rate, I'll have a full head of white hair before he finishes this damn story.

Ah, well. Not like it's gonna be anything that interesting.

"-And so, I grabbed the moose by the antlers, and I say, I say this to Marie, "Start running in the opposite direction!" And the instant she turns away, I start pushing as hard as I could-"

Oh, wow. That is not at all what I was expecting.

"Wow. Um, well it sounds like you did pretty good, it being your first time hiking and all," I said awkwardly.

"Oh, it wasn't my first time hiking.  I mean it was my first time hiking in the Pacific Northwest!" Dean corrected me cheerfully, but it only made him more annoying.

"Right.  Of course.  Sorry, it's been nice talking to you, but I have to run. I'm gonna try and call Leo, I don't think-"

"Oh! I can lend you my phone," Dean blabbered, grabbing me by the arm. I frowned, taking a step back. "What's his number? I'll put it in for you!"

First of all. I hate that he said it like that. Secondly I am not using his phone to call Leo. "Oh, no, it's fine. I can just use my own phone," I raised an eyebrow.

"I insist!" Dean blurted out, then froze. "Are you sure? Reception's not always the best around these parts."

"Seriously, it's fine," I replied, reaching for my phone and taking it out. "I'll just-"

"Oh! Would you look at that, I think I see him right there!" Dean said loudly. "Why don't we head in?"

I frowned.

Why is he acting all weird all of a sudden?

"In fact, why don't we go look for him? Across the street, in Hmart?" Dean asked loudly.

His tone felt familiar, but not in a good way. It reminded me of the way my mother would call out to young girls who were sitting by themselves next to an old man on the bus. She always acted like she knew them their whole lives. "Aiyah! Come here, Jenny," she would say, pulling the girl who we knew absolutely nothing about towards us, awkwardly sitting her next to me. "Sit with your auntie, lah! What did you do in school today?"
