No Looking Back {Book Two}

Six months later

I'm six months in the pregnancy and Siddiq wants me to keep going in for a check up since it can be risky because I am now 42.

Me and Rick were on our way to see what gender the baby is. Of course we're fine with both genders, so we'll be happy either way.

"Hi Siddiq." I said, smiling.

"Let me guess, here to find out the gender?" Siddiq asked.

"Yes we are." Rick said.

"Alright, lay on the bed and lift up your shirt." Siddiq said.

"Hey. At least take me out on a date first." I said, jokingly.

"I'll have to get past your husband and brother first." He said.

"And you won't be able to." Rick said, laughing afterwards with us joining. I laid on my back and lifted my shirt, exposing my belly.

"You are glowing Maddie." Siddiq said.

"I heard pregnancy does that to people." I said. He put some of that jelly stuff on my tummy and used that wand thingy. Me and Rick were holding each other's hands while watching the screen. He kept moving it around until he heard the baby's heartbeat.

"There's your baby right there." Siddiq said. "And it seems to be a girl." He told us. I smiled seeing the ultrasound. Siddiq printed a picture of the ultrasound and handed it to me. Rick kissed the top of my head and I looked at him with a big smile.

We soon left the doctor and walked around with him holding the ultrasound, not being able to take his eyes off it.

"Hey Maddie and Rick." Aaron said.

"Hi Aaron. We got our ultrasound, you want to see it?" I asked.

"Of course I do." He said, getting closer. Rick handed it to him and Aaron smiled. "Wow, they're getting bigger." He said.

"You mean, she's getting bigger." I said.

"You're having a girl?" He asked. I nodded my head and he hugged me. He then pulled away and looked at us. "Congratulations you two! I can't wait to meet her." He said.

"We can't wait to meet her either." Rick said. We said bye then headed him and saw Daryl sitting on the step outside the house watching RJ draw on the sidewalk with Gracie.

"Hi Daryl." I said, smiling.

"Hey Maddie. So what gender is the baby?" He asked.

"It's a girl." Rick told him. Daryl smiled and hugged both of us.

It was now nighttime and I was tucking RJ in for bed and I kissed his forehead.

"I can't wait for my little sister to be born mommy." He said.

"We can't wait either but we have to." I said. "We just have to wait three more months and she'll be here." I said. "Goodnight RJ, sleep tight." I said, walking out of the room leaving his night light on and closed the door behind me.

I walked to mine and Rick's room and began to change for bed. While I was changing, Rick walked inside.

"This is a nice view." He said.

"Of course it is, it's me you're looking at." I said. I heard him chuckle before changing. I was now in a white stretchy tank top and white with blue lined pajama pants. I got under the cover and Rick did the same.

"Goodnight Maddie." He said.

"Goodnight Rick." I said, kissing him. I couldn't get very close to him since my belly was kind of in the way. So I laid on my side facing away from him while he got close to me and wrapped his arm around my waist and he had his hand on my belly. We both then fell asleep.
