Friable (adj)
Easily broken into pieces or reducing to nothing.Evelyn's POV
Mark pulls up to the building and I get into his car as fast as I can.
"Hey babe. Is everything okay?" He looks over my body.
"Yeah, I just...I couldn't be there anymore." I pull my seat belt over my chest.
I look over and he is smirking at me.
"And here I thought you missed me." He chuckles.
"I did! You didn't let me finish my sentence." I nudge his arm.
He starts driving and making random turns. I don't even care where we go.
My already friable heart is even more shattered.
My best friend/ mother died, I had to move in with my father who abandoned me, I had to endure Charlotte's unbearable voice until I was kicked out, then feelings for my stepbrother grew and I hate myself for it. Lastly, I find him fucking some girl doggie style on his desk. Uuugggghhh. What is my life?
Mark places his hand on my thigh and looks between me and the road.
"You're sure you're okay?" He asks more seriously than before.
I nod.
"I just had a hard day." I give him a small smile.
"You want to go to the beach for a few hours?" He asks.
There's a beach here?
"As long as you promise I won't get eaten by sharks." I hold out my pinky and he happily takes it chuckling in the process.
"Wait, I don't have a bathing suit." I look down at my work clothes.
"I'll buy you one, I don't mind."
When I try to object, he simply won't just listen. I honestly rather not be in a pencil skirt on the beach so I'm very grateful for him buying me a bathing suit.
"Tell me about you." I smile at him wanting to learn more.
"Well, I'm Mark. I'm twenty-six years old. I'm a Virgo. I use probably way too much hair gel, and I'm a dentist."
I can already tell my mom would love him.
"What's a Virgo?" I ask confused.
He looks at me with his grey eyes looking for my sarcasm, but they can't find it.
"You're one of the only women I know that isn't into zodiac signs." He chuckles.
"What's my zodiac sign?"
"Well, when's your birthday?"
"June fourteenth." My excitement increases.
"You my dear, are a Gemini." He smiles.
A Gemini. That sounds pretty.
"Is that a good sign?" I ask.
"You and I have the most hated signs." He chuckles.
Hated? Why?
"Why?" I ask as he pulls into a store.
"All zodiacs have things that other people hate or don't like. Don't take it personally love." He kisses my cheek making the heat rise to my face.
