Mellow (adj)
Become more relaxed, easygoing, or genial.Evelyn's POV
My eyes shoot open with the sound of breaking glass. My eyes scan my room.
Nothing is broken.
I place my feet on the cold floor and tip toe to the door. I need to invest in some slippers.
I walk around the house and still find nothing broken.
What the hell was that?
I open the back door and I see Dimitri sitting on a black padded lawn chair looking up at the sky.
"Are you okay?" I ask rubbing my eyes.
He turns towards me with widened eyes.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to wake you up." He gives a lazy smile.
"What broke? I heard it from my room."
"I tripped over a poorly placed flowerpot." He chuckles and I laugh along with him.
After a second, I look up at the sky to see what he's looking at.
A jumble of stars litters the sky.
"Come here, I want to show you something." His hand gestures me towards his chair.
I do as I'm told and slowly, probably awkwardly walk towards him.
"Sit, I won't bite." He chuckles.
I roll my eyes and sit between his legs.
He pulls my shoulders back so that my back is leaning against him. His body is hard and muscular, but comfortable.
He lifts his arm, and he points to a star.
"See that one there? The orange-ish pink star." He asks.
I nod looking at the star his finger is pointing at.
"That's Mars-" I feel his body mellow out. "Beautiful, isn't it?"
"Mars?" I ask.
"Mars." He confirms.
Wow, that's so cool.
"How do you know?" Their so many stars in the sky, how can he pinpoint just one and know what it is?
"Look at the other stars piccola. It's the only one that is different."
[Baby]My eyes examine the sky. He's right. It's the only star that is a different color. I would've never noticed unless he picked it out.
"It reminds me of you." He says.
Of me?
"How?" I ask confused.
"You're different." He simply says.
"Different bad?"
I feel a small laugh.
"No, different good."
I smile. That was sweet.
"When did you learn about stars?" I ask curiously.
"Ever since I was a young boy, I loved the sky. I felt like the stars held so many secrets and beauty." He sounds passionate.
I wonder where that young boy who loved stars went.
"My father...he was an evil man. He called me names for liking to do this. So, I stopped until I met you." He looks down at me and lays his arms over my chest.
