Evelyn's POV

It's been a few days since we've gotten home.

Jinx is growing fast, he was so much smaller when I first found him in Australia. My baby is growing too fast!

Right now, Dimitri and I are at the hideout with a group of men. Dimitri makes me sit in his lap, which I have no objection to. It's not like people haven't put two and two together here. I think the only people who don't know yet is our parents and maybe the people at the office.

"We can't do it like that, it's too obvious." Someone argues with someone else's opinion.

Maybe I should be listening. I kind of zoned out when they started talking about how to eliminate Popov.

"How is sending a hireling in there to silently assassinate him too obvious?" The other man argues back.

"What if we stage a truce?" Someone else asks.

"He wouldn't fall for that." I quietly comment.

Dimitri's lips curl in approval. "He wouldn't." He agrees.

"Why wouldn't he fall for it? If we make him think he's getting the territory he wants he will for sure at least agree to meeting with one of us."

I shake my head. "We've killed too many of his men, even if he did agree, he'd be heavily guarded and suspicious. He knows Dimitri wouldn't just give his territory away." I try to sound confident.

I feel Dimitri lean into my ear, "very smart, piccola."

I smile, feeling proud of myself.

"We could try to catch him like he caught you two." An older, big man suggests.

"He doesn't leave his hideout unless something is going on. He has his monky's do all his dirty work." Dimitri shuts it down.

Seems like Popov has the upper hand here.

Come on Evelyn, think. Think!

"What if we trap him?" I think out loud.

"Questo e impossibile. L'idea degli idioti e una merda." A guy mumbles.

{This is impossible. Idiot's idea is shit.}

"Guarda il tuo fottuto tono! Parla di lei di nuovo cosi e ti uccidero." Dimitri's voice almost booms.

{Watch your fucking mouth! Talk about her like that again and I'll kill you.}

All the men take a step back from the table. What's going on?

"We could have an apprentice call him and order a delivery of some sort. A delivery large enough to make him think 'holy shit', then when we get his delivery boy, we try to get him to turn on Popov." I keep my idea going.

"That would have us fully depending on a Russian. Or fully depending on the idea of him turning on his own kind. It's too gritty Don." My idea gets thrown to the side.

I shrug, I thought it was good.

"Let's draw them out. It'll result in some of us being killed, but Popov will surely die." Another suggestion is thrown.

"A war like that is a last resort. I don't want any of my men dead." Dimitri shoos away the idea with his hand.

"Whatever we do, it has to be in public." Someone says.
