Evelyn's POV
I open the vent, take out a pencil and flip to the next page of my diary.
Dear Diary,
I'm taking an Uber to Mark's house later. I'm actually excited to see him. I haven't seen him since I accused him of cheating, which I shouldn't judge for that...I actually did cheat on him by kissing Dimitri. We haven't talked about the kiss, why should we? It meant nothing despite all the sparks and butterflies. It can't mean anything even if I wanted it to.
A car honks outside the house.
I quickly throw my diary aside and hurry outside.
Once I make it to Mark's place, I walk up to the door and knock.
He opens the door and smiles before inviting me in.
I've never seen his house before. It's not like Dimitri's at all, it looks more lived in. A large brown leather couch sits against the wall in his living room, he has a decent sized TV, a single woven basket filled with throw blankets. It's comfortable.
"Make yourself at home." He gestures towards the couch.
Once I sit, my body gets sunken in by the leather. I expected for it to be hard, but it was in fact soft.
We talk about the things we did over the course of the last couple days. Apparently, he was thinking about going to visit his parents that live a few hours away and he wants me to come with. I don't know how well that'll gloss over with Dimitri. One of my new rules is that I have to always be available and if I'm a few hours away, I won't be. Maybe I'm just looking too hard into it.
"I just have to check my schedule before I say yes or no."
"Come on babe, I want you there. I've told my parents all about you." His arm wraps around me.
"You told them about me?" I smile from ear to ear. Only a man who is serious about a relationship would introduce you to his parents, right?
"Of course, I did babe. You're perfect." He rubs my shoulder with the hand wrapped around me.
My heart fills with joy. My head lays in the crook of his neck. "Does this mean that we're officially together?"
"What do you mean?" His face contorted.
"Well, you've never asked me to be your girlfriend. I mean, I assumed I was. I've been calling you my boyfriend." I admit with a blush tinting my cheeks.
He chuckles and kisses my warm cheek. "Yes babe."
A jolt of excitement pumps through my heart. I have a boyfriend!
"I love that little blush of yours. It makes you look so innocent." He states.
His words only cause my cheeks to heat up even more. My head feels airy but full at the same time, and I just feel...happy. My mom would've liked him, she would've found him as a good husband and father to our future kids.
Mark looks at me with prideful eyes. Maybe he feels the same about me.
"So, come with me?" His fingertips rub the outside of my arm.
I giggle and shrug. "I have to see if I can. I can't just go somewhere on such short notice without making sure if I can take off work or anything."
I feel his wet lips trail down my jaw and onto my neck. I couldn't help but compare him to Dimitri in this moment. Mark wasn't bad by any means; Dimitri was just better. He made me feel like he needed me while Mark kisses my neck like he wants me.
