Iridescent (adj)
Varying in color when seen in different lights or from different angels.Evelyn's POV
I continue to follow the women up to the highest floor.I tried my hardest to not make it seem like I was terrified in the elevator but on the inside, I was quaking.
The elevator doors open and her hips sway to the end of the hall then turns to knock on the only door to the right.
"Accedere." I hear Dimitri's booming voice on the other side of the door.
[Enter]My legs start to feel weak. Is it too late to turn back now?
She slowly opens the door, and we walk in. I'm staying behind her trying to hide.
"Partire." Dimitri mutters.
[Leave]The lady leaves shutting the door behind her. Leaving me alone with Dimitri.
I ponder around the room not daring to look at him. There's a bar, a large black desk, two lush verdant green chairs that are facing his desk, the random artwork displayed on the walls. Looking at anything but Dimitri.
"Sit." He gestured towards one of the dark green chairs.
"I'm okay, I-I can stand." I stutter not wanting to be close.
Dimitri stands up and strides towards me. When he stops in front of me, I look up at him towering over me with a smirk on his face.
"Siediti piccola." His minty breath fans my face.
[Sit baby]My stomach clenches and my head swims. I feel my face flush at how close he is.
His hands grasp around my hips squeezing lightly causing me to quietly gasp.
He smirks and pulls me towards the chair.
My body gently sits on the chair, and he sits in front of me on the edge of his desk.
"I am having a small gathering tonight. People from the office will be there. I just wanted to tell you to wear something nice." He says with a smirk still tugging on his lips.
"I can't stay out the house, it's okay. I could go-" I start.
"No, I want you there." He finishes.
"Why?" My eyebrows knit together, and I cross my legs suddenly feeling exposed.
"Because you have huge dreams." He chuckles.
Heat rises through my head.
"That's all, bellissima." He dismisses.
Not wanting to be in there a second longer I speed walk out the door and close it softly behind me.
An audible sigh leaves my lips.
He's just your stepbrother Evelyn, nothing more, nothing less.
When I look at the clock, I see that it's already lunch time.
Yes!
I meet up with Martin and Raeni where we went yesterday.
"Where's Kim?" I ask looking around.
Raeni points to the salad bar.
"She eats salad every day." Her Jamaican accent plays symphonic notes through my ears.
