Evelyn's POV
Groke
(Verb)
To stare at somebody while they're eating in the hope that they'll share.
The ride back to the house was tense. I could almost feel Kim's fear. I don't know why she's so antsy around him. Even if he is the Don, he doesn't seem scary at all.
Dimitri pulls into the driveway and we both walk with him to the front door. Once he unlocks it, Kim basically sticks herself to me.
"I'll show you to your room." Dimitri says almost peeved.
Kim looks at me then follows him up the stairs. I swear, if her room is next to mine, I'm going to raise hell.
I walk into the kitchen and look for a small snack to satisfy my growling stomach.
I pull out a box of cereal and a small tub of vanilla ice cream. Still technically cereal, but it's fancier than eating it with milk. Also, more fattening but who's counting calories?
I scoop three scoops of ice cream in a bowl and pour a hefty amount of cinnamon cereal on top. My spoon mixes the cereal and ice cream together making it look delicious.
The first bite was magical! A beautiful combination that I will definitely be eating again. It has the perfect amount of crunch within the creaminess.
"Do you eat other things aside from cereal?" Dimitri chuckles from the doorway.
"Why change something that is already perfect?" I say taking another bite.
"You have the appetite of a child." He walks closer.
"You have the appetite of someone who sucks." I shrug.
A dangerous smile dances on his lips.
"Taste it." I say bringing the spoon up to his face, "You won't regret it."
He looks at the spoon full of junk and gives me a side smile.
"Go on, I don't have cooties." I coax.
He takes the spoon from my hand and puts it into his mouth. His lips form perfectly around the curve of the spoon until all of its contents are inside.
At first, he looks perplexed but as he chews, I see him fall in love.
"I underestimated you tesoro." He nods in defeat.
{treasure.}
"I told you it was good. Now give me my spoon." I put my hand out.
"No, give me the bowl." He points to the almost full bowl of cereal and ice cream.
I grab the bowl defensively. "Make your own."
I watch as his tongue slides across the curve of the spoon as he looks at me. Tingles erupt inside my bones. Why does he have this effect on me? He's licking a damn spoon, and it's disgusting.
"I changed my mind, I have cooties." I cross my arms.
He laughs as he takes another step closer to me, making me feel small. I straighten my back and face him, ready for what he's going to do next.
