The Return of the Queens

Chapter 56

It had now been a couple of weeks since Oliver had taken over as CEO of QC and everything seemed to be going well. It didn't hurt that he and Thea worked so well together because of the fact that they were stuck with just each other for so long and the fact that they were the head of the vigilantes in the city. Emiko was also working out well for the company. Since she had come on as the head of applied sciences, everything seemed to be running better than it had in years.

Oliver was finally able to convince Emiko to come over and eat dinner with the rest of the family. He also made sure that Emiko's mother came as well, since she was just as much a part of the family as Emiko now. So, now everyone was eating and having conversations with each other.

"So, Emiko, what have you been doing with your time before you joined on at QC?" Laurel asked.

"Well, I did a lot of traveling and just tried to have a good time while I could." Emiko said.

"Sounds nice. See anything that was worthwhile why you were off traveling?" Sara asked.

"The usual stuff like the Eifel Tower and stuff like that." Emiko said.

"I wish I had been able to do that, but no, when I try to go traveling, I get stuck on a damn island for five years." Thea said.

"Yeah, I am not that much on travel anymore." Oliver said.

"I can understand that." Emiko said.

"So, Ms. Adachi, What do you do with your time?" Oliver asked.

"Well, not much now, since I am retired. I do like to sew and knit. I even sell some of my items sometimes." Ms. Adachi said.

"That's nice. I would like to see some of your work sometime. It might be something I am interested in." Thea said.

"Oh, I don't know about that. My items are more like cheaper brands of stuff. Not like the stuff you normally buy." Ms. Adachi said.

"You would be surprised. Living on an island for five years makes you enjoy the simple things like comfortable clothes and not that stuff that I used to wear except for when I am at work." Thea said.

"Well, in that case, stop by sometime and we will see if anything is to your liking." Ms. Adachi said, and Thea nodded.

"There is also another reason that we wanted you to come here tonight. We have something important to tell you and we all had to agree on it before we decided to say anything to both of you." Oliver said.

"And that would be?" Emiko asked.

"I am sure you have been keeping up with the Green Arrow and Artemis and their team." Thea said.

"Yeah, what does that have to do with anything?" Emiko asked.

"I am the Green Arrow and Thea is Artemis." Oliver said.

"Huh. That makes a lot of since. So, who are the others?" Ms. Adachi asked.

"I am Black Canary and Sara is White Canary." Laurel said and the two visitors nodded.

"We have two other teammates, and they are Arsenal and Batgirl. We can't tell you their identities until we make sure it is ok with them." Oliver said and the two women nodded again know that it wouldn't be right for Oliver to divulge their secret without asking first.

"Well, this had been a lot of fun and I hope we can do it again sometime, but I think I had better get some sleep, so I won't be slacking at work tomorrow." Emiko said as she and her mother got up to leave and go home for the night.

"Oh, before you leave, I just wanted you to know we are having a press conference tomorrow and I need you there unless that is a problem." Oliver said.

"I will be there just send me the time." Emiko said and Oliver nodded.

The Adachi's left the mansion and now it was just the family left there so they all talked for a bit longer, but soon it was time for them to go to sleep as well so that they wouldn't be slacking off at work as well.

The next day at noon Oliver had all of the press at QC and everyone was wondering what was really going on here because they never got called to QC unless there was something going on and they had just given a big bombshell a few weeks ago with Oliver and Thea both taking top jobs in the company. What could be so important that they would need to have another press conference this soon.

"Thank you for coming everyone. This will not take long. There will also be no comments after the announcement is made. Thank you." Oliver said.

"So, what is this about Mr. Queen?" Someone yelled from the back of the room.

"As you all know, Emiko Adachi is the new head of applied sciences and she has come up with a lot of new work that will help this city in some way. I am not here to just praise this woman; it just helps me know that I was right to put here in this position. Anyways, the reason that we are really here is because I want to give Emiko something that she should have had all of her life. The Queen name. From this moment on Emiko Adachi is now Emiko Queen and she has already taken her rightful place in the company, where she belongs. Oliver said.

This stunned everyone who was in the room, but it didn't take the press long to start asking questions. Oliver just dodged all of their questions and left the room to go to his office.

"Oliver, not that am not happy to be known as a Queen, but you didn't have to do this." Emiko said.

"I know I didn't, but I felt that it was only right to. You are family, and now you will always be because you hold the family name." Oliver said.

"Thank you so much for this. I will not let you down. Well, I will get back to work. I just needed to make sure that this was something that you really wanted to do." Emiko said.

"It is and thank you for asking. I will see you later Emiko. Let me know if you need anything." Oliver said as both of the siblings got back to work.
