Chapter 73

Derek woke up with a massive hangover. He rubbed his eyes a few times before descending downstairs to see a woman on his couch.

"R-rose?" Derek called out confused

"Derek! Hey you're awake" rose said groggily

"Why are you here?" He asked walking towards the kitchen

"You got waaay too drunk last night at joes, I found you and took you home and decided to stay till morning just in case you needed to talk."

"Ah ok thank you by the way you didn't need to do that." He said grabbing orange juice

"Of course that's what friends are for"

Derek smiled gently before pouring himself and rose a glass of oj.

She walked towards the island and sat down across from him whilst taking the glass.

She took a sip and sighed at the coolness from the juice. Derek did the same and they enjoyed the comfortable silence.

Rose decided to break the silence.

"Hey Derek you know if you ever do need to talk I'll be here, I'm always here for you."

Derek tensed at her words but forced a smile upon his face as he said,

"Thank you"

"Rose I don't want to sound rude but I want to be alone would you mind?" He asked motioning to the door.

Rose bit back an upset expression as she mustered a smile and said "yeah,yeah no problem I'll see you"

With that rose left and Derek ventured off to the couch.

He put on Netflix and watched some of the shows him and Meredith used to enjoy, like sds and Tokyo ghoul.

It was now 2pm and Derek hadn't eaten, he hadn't done much of anything really besides watch tv, remember Meredith,cry, and repeat.

He got up and walked over to his phone and proceeded to call Richard.

"Hey Derek how are you?"

"I'm good I'm good I-um I won't be in Tomorrow if that's ok with you"

"Yeah sure take all the time you need"

If only you knew.

"Thanks Richard take care"

He hung up and put the phone down without giving Richard the chance to respond.

He walked over to the island grabbed Advil, and walked to the fridge and grabbed two bottles of tequila.

He walked up the stairs and laid down in his bed and turned on the tv.

""What happened hmm well I finally realized I have no place in this world anymore and thought it'd be easier if I ended it all" Meredith had said. He was taken aback by this response he didn't even know what to say. "I think you have a place in this world" Derek had said with a soft smile."

"I can't do this anymore" Derek said as he suddenly remembered this....the way they had first met.As he tipped his head back and swallowed all of the Advil pills and downed the bottles of tequila like they were water.

His vision grew hazy and he swore his life flashed before his own two eyes.

"I hope I'll meet you again Meredith Grey." Derek mumbled as he took his last breath.
