Chapter 36

Meredith woke up and Derek was gone. This time there was no good smell. She felt sick because she had told him and he was upset. He had a right to be but she was mad she had did this to him.

She didn't bother calling him, she figured he probably needed some air.

Dereks Pov:

I did indeed feel bad leaving Meredith in the room alone with no type of a note but I needed this. To drink but I couldn't drink to much. Everything Dr.Wyatt had said was still apparent in our situation right now. I had a glass and a half and I went back to the room. It sounded like Meredith was crying but I couldn't tell for sure.

I opened the door and she was sitting on the balcony looking at a body of water.

"Meredith" I called out

"You came back"

"I did" I said walking to the balcony

"Meredith we-"

"Please don't.. don't say anything because I have a feeling about what your going to say but I don't want to so please don't say it" she begged

"Meredith we should take a break" he whispered

"Derek" she said standing up and facing him

"Don't do this"

"We're not breaking up and the engagement is not over but I feel like we should spend some time apart so you can sort through your feelings. And when your ready come find me and we'll talk"

"So your moving out?"

"No no I'll just be on the couch. No sex, no kissing, just friends or something like that. And obviously we can't go out and be with other people. We still belong to each other just.. a break"

"You won't leave?"

"I don't want to leave Meredith I just want you to figure your feelings out."

"Ok so I guess we're going back home?"

"We don't have to"

"I can't enjoy this vacation thing if we're not even.. if we're not even together together "

"That's understandable "

They packed in silence and Derek checked them out and they went home.

They had dinner plans but now, well now they cancelled on them.

Meredith went upstairs and Derek followed after her. He grabbed his clothes and his pillow and went back downstairs. Meredith watched him and she felt so terrible for doing this to them.

He went downstairs but not before flashing her a smile and she gave one back.

"Derek" she called after him

"Yes?"

"So no I love you's?"

"I don't know what do you think?"

"I don't think they would mess up the break"

"Ok then, I love you Meredith be comfy" chuckled

"I love you too and you too" she chuckled back

He went downstairs and spent his time on the couch missing their bed and his future wife.

Meredith came down from time to time to get something to eat and she purposely took a long time because she missed being in his presence.
He noticed it was she was doing but he couldn't give in. He couldn't let me himself because it would ruin them if he did. If he went back to her and she didn't sort through her feelings it would destroy them.
