Derek was a doctor so he knew how long surgeries lasted hell he's been in surgeries that lasted a day and half but this? This was taking too long. He was a fool for letting Meredith go he should have persevered through the abuse, known Meredith doesn't actually feel that way but manipulated into thinking that way. She loved him and he loved her that was all that mattered. He needed her and she needed him. He wasn't going anywhere.. he'll be here for.. forever she was going to be his wife. Dereks thoughts were interrupted by a nurse.

"Dr. Shepherd?"

"Ye-yea?"

"The surgery went well, she's in the icu you can come see her now." The nurse said happily

"Oh God thank you thank you yes lead the way"

They walked to Merediths room and all these thoughts kept racing through Dereks mind. Would she wake up and still hate me? Would she forgive me? Is this it?

They finally arrived and Meredith was still asleep.
He walked up to her and stroked her hair while looking down at her sad that she hurt herself so horribly. He leaned down and kissed her forehead and decided to sit by her bedside until she awoke.

//// *25 minutes later*

Merediths eyes starting flickering open and Derek had held her hand and put his head on her bed

He raised his head to find her eyes staring back into his.

"Meredith I am so sorry for everything. I know I messed up I know I messed up everything for you I'm sorry."

"It-its ok, it's not your fault I'm sorry"

"Why... why did you do this mer "

"I didn't want to live in a world without you" she said looking away

He brought his hand under her chin and moved it back so she would face him

"Meredith you don't ever have to do anything like this to get me to come back to you. I'll always come back no matter what. Even if I yell or you yell or we "break up" I'll always come back" he said tilting his head and smiling

She started crying and he stood up and hugged her and rubbed her back

"Derek you know I really love you I'm sorry I was so ungrateful and selfish I'm really sorry I do trust you and it's not your fault "she said through sobs

"Mer stop apologizing it's no ones fault" he said cupping her face

"Your so good at everything "

"You make me good at everything "

"I didn't mean it. That this was a mistake I didn't"

"I didn't either"

"I was scared you did"

"Me too Meredith "

"How .. how did you do it?"

"Do what?"

"How did you slit your throat"

"Derek."

"No no I don't want a step by step I just mean how"

"I cried for about 2 hours until I couldn't anymore and laid down and looked up at the ceiling and I didn't know what I was going to do but I saw a scalpel and I was initially going to slit my wrists but I wanted you to come back so I didn't want to die die so I slit my throat just above the big vein thingy"

"Oh Mer please don't do anything like this again. I'll never leave you even if we break up I'll come back like I can't live without you I will be back" he chuckled

"You ended it.. I wasn't sure you'd come back"

"I know me too I was unpacking and then I just couldn't"

"Mer we need to talk about everything because we can't have a fight like this again"

"I know but not now I just want to sleep "

"Ok I'll sit here or Atleast lay here" he chuckled

"Ok I love you Derek "

"I love you too"

She went to sleep and Derek laid on the couch and looked up at the ceiling
