*wilhelm's point of view*
the walk to the car was short, but i was smiling the whole way. i thought hearing him say it for real would stress me out, but i didn't. it was actually very reassuring. ever since erik... i haven't felt like anyone actually loved me. sure, my mom and my dad said it to me sometimes, but it was empty. there was no real emotion behind it. this was completely different.
when i got in the car, felice was already there and settled in. she waved and gave me a nervous smile. i smiled back and fell into the seat. i clicked in the seatbelt. after the driver made sure we were all ready to go, he started the drive. i assumed it would be in silence until felice leaned over to me.
"i'm sorry," she whispered.
"it's not your fault," i told her back.
she frowned.
"i know," she said, "but i still could have said no and maybe you wouldn't be stuck like this."
i shook my head.
"if you didn't, i would be stuck with someone else. i'm glad they chose you," i reassured her with a sad smile.
she gave me one back. then her eyes lit up.
"i've never been to the palace before," she whispered excitedly.
i gave a quiet laugh.
"it's not 'all that' if that's what you're expecting."
she nudged me in the shoulder.
"if you say so, your highness," she laughed.
i nudged her back.
"shut up," i jokingly warned her.
there was a comfortable silence for a couple minutes. in that time i pulled out my phone and texted simon.
the typing symbol almost immediately appeared.
