"They're doing it," Hermione said. "Look, here they are."
Adeline looked over Hermione's shoulder. Fred and George Weasley came into the Great Hall with potions in their hands. A bunch of students started chanting and clapping as the boys stood in front of them.
"What have you whipped up?" Adeline asked the two gingers as they walked towards them.
"Age Potions." said George.
Fred added. "We've been practicing with them. We're guaranteed to get past Dumbledore's trap with these."
Hermione sighed. "Do you see that? The circle around the cup?"
"Yeah." The twins said in unison.
"That is an Age Line. Dumbledore drew it himself. You're not going to fool the greatest wizard of all time with a flimsy Age Potion." Hermione told them, opening her book back up.
Hermione did have a point. Adeline had no doubt that the Age Line would push the twins back out. Dumbledore had to have known that students would use every method they could to get into the Tournament.
"Have more faith in us, will you Hermione?" asked Fred.
"I bet Adeline has loads." George smirked.
Adeline smiled. "Yes, I definitely have loads."
George shot her a playful glance and Fred winked at her before they cheerily went down to the Age Line, holding their arms up in the air.
Hermione murmured. "Thickheads."
Adeline giggled and watched as the boys each downed their Age Potions. The audience that formed in the Great Hall clapped and she heard a couple whistles as well.
Fred and George then stepped past the Age Line. Adeline flinched when she thought Dumbledore's magic would throw the twins back, but when it didn't, felt a mixture between surprised and silly.
"Oh Merlin," Adeline gasped. "'Mione, they did it!"
"Give it a moment." Hermione didn't even bother looking up from her book.
The loud cheering from everyone in the Great Hall made Adeline's ears ring, but she was at the edge of her seat when the boys both pulled out their parchments.
Adeline could see the faint scrawl of Fred and George's names on their parchments as they carefully raised their arms up together. Their laughter was contagious and made Adeline let out a surprised chuckle.
Just as Fred and George were about to place their names in the cup - BOOM!
The two boys were shot back, hitting the wall behind them. Adeline stood up in shock. She knew this was bound to happen, but she actually thought they made it through for a second.
She watched from her seat as Fred and George slowly started getting up. They were - growing beards?
Adeline put her hand over her mouth. They were growing long, white beards. They grew longer every second. It was as if they were getting older and older.
Then - what do you know? - Fred and George start laughing with the rest of the Great Hall. They stood up and started pointing and making comments about the other's beard.
"I did warn you," a deep, amused voice rang through the Hall. Adeline turned around. Dumbledore was at the doors. He surveyed Fred and George, eyes twinkling. "I suggest you both go see Madam Pomfrey. She is already tending to Miss Fawcett, of Ravenclaw, and Mr Summers of Hufflepuff, both of whom decided to age themselves up a little, too. Though I must say, neither of their beards is anything like as fine as yours."
