They made quite an entrance. From the select students and Headmistress of Beauxbatons Academy of Magic flying in on Abraxians and a gorgeous carriage, to Durmstrang Institute coming in on a ship that came up from the Black Lake, it was clever.
It intimidated a lot of the other students. Adeline was one that was not included. She saw this stuff too often.
What excited Adeline — which isn't the most easy thing to do — was seeing a glimpse of her good friend, Josephine Laurent.
Josephine was a fifth year student at Beauxbatons. She was the picture of beauty, with long auburn hair and striking green eyes. She also had the most beautiful French accent that Adeline was so fond of.
They had been friends since they were in nappies, their parents being quite close. Josephine was from a wealthy family as well.
As soon as Adeline saw Josephine in her sky blue Beauxbaton robes, she practically screamed, having to fight her hardest not to jump up and grab her friend into the tightest hug.
She hadn't seen Josephine since early in July when her and her family visited from France. Sadly, they only visited briefly and Adeline only got to see her friend for one of her mother's grand summer galas.
Adeline noticed how she looked younger then most of the other students that attended Hogwarts for the year. She also noticed how poised she acted.
The Beauxbatons students took their seats at the Ravenclaw table. Adeline was slightly disappointed, but she didn't show it. She was excited to see Josephine.
The Durmstrang students took their seats at the Slytherin table. Adeline turned her head to scope out the ladies and gentlemen would be attending school that year.
Bloody hell. It was Viktor Krum. Ron was going to be insufferable.
As if on cue, Ron gasped and his voice sounded faint. "I was right. It's Viktor Krum. He's here! He's here, Harry!"
All of the boys and Ginny began talking hurriedly as Adeline and Hermione exchanged unfazed glances.
Hermione stared at the Slytherin table for a moment before she scoffed. "Ronald, did you see who Krum is sitting beside?"
Adeline didn't even notice. She caught glance of the Quidditch Player and didn't think twice about anything before Ron spoke earlier.
So, Adeline turned her head, curious to see who the famous Durmstrang student was sitting beside and she caught a specific icy grey stare.
Suddenly, she couldn't breathe. She didn't know what was going on. The stare filled with the most hatred and disgust Adeline had ever seen.
Then Krum said something to him and he tore his hatred filled eyes away from her.
Malfoy was sitting beside Krum. Lovely.
Adeline sucked in a breath. "Malfoy."
Ron turned his head to get a better view. "No! What the fuck?!"
"Of course it's Malfoy." Harry seethed.
"Malfoy's a rich Pureblood, are we really surprised? Durmstrang is beyond prejudiced — doesn't even let in Muggle-Borns," Adeline pointed out. "Krum is probably just like them."
