Adeline spluttered. She had never laughed this hard in her life. Her Butterbeer was leaking from her mouth in a very 'non-princessy' way.

She giggled. "Pardon me? You- what?"

"I know, I was a special kid." Adrien's shoulders were shaking with laughter.

Adeline laughed louder. She put her hand daintily over her mouth and said. "Sorry."

His smile faltered only a bit. "You don't need to be sorry for anything, Addy. I just told you about how I swung myself and my father's prized golfing club into a fountain. You have the right to laugh."

Adeline's heart stung for a brief moment but she didn't let it show. "I just can't believe you were such a rambunctious child."

"Hey," Adrien threw his hands up in defence. "It's not my fault! Besides, I bet you weren't so grand yourself."

"Yes, I was actually," Adeline challenged. She placed her hands in her lap and leaned forward, taking a careful sip of her Butterbeer. After she swallowed, she continued. "I was always good and never broke the rules."

"Bullshit," Adrien called out immediately.

Adeline gasped. "Adrien-"

"Your brother is Ben Fawley. He was on my opposing Quidditch team, Adeline. He plays rough. Hell, even you broke some rules since I can remember." He claimed.

She fiddled with her fingers in her lap. "I've broken more rules as of late than I did when I was a child."

And heavens was that true? She had broken so many of her parents' rules. Of societies rules. It made her feel incapable of order.

It made her feel lost.

But at the moment, it felt like home.

Draco felt like home.

"Ahh, I see," said Adrien. "But nothing as a youngster?"

A bulb clicked in Adeline's brain. "Now that you mention it. When Ben was twelve, and I was ten, he convinced me to help him draw on a wall in the corridors of our castle. He drew some vile images of genitalia and I drew unicorns and pygmy puffs."

Adrien laughed. "Now that's what I've been looking to hear! Oh Merlin, and you did that having your father?"

She reached up and began playing with the straw in her Butterbeer. "I wasn't punished severely, having been fairly young. However, Ben was twelve and father claimed he knew what he was doing," Adeline swallowed. "He never did tell me what his punishment was."

Adrien frowned, reaching his hand forward to grab Adeline's on the table. "I'm sorry, Adeline."

She looked up at him carefully. Assessing his every move as if to fully understand his intentions. "You need not apologize. You've done nothing wrong."

Right at that moment, a waiter came to the table. Her hair was carefully pinned, her dark curls bouncing. "How is everything?"

"It's great. Thank you," said Adrien.

The man must always talk. The woman must be silent. She must be obedient and well-behaved in the presence of anyone and everyone. Adeline smiled at the waitress kindly, putting on the perfect facade she had been trained for.

"Of course," The waitress said. "Is there anything else I can get for you?"

"The bill, if you could," Adrien checked his watch, pulling his hand from Adeline's. "It's almost five. We should get back to the castle."

Adeline nodded. "Yes, we should."

"I'll be right back with the bill." The waitress chimed in and then left the table quickly.
