Malfoy dragged Adeline into Umbridge's office. The cats on the plates stared at her intently, but the only thing she was focusing on was the feel of Malfoy's hand on her waist and the feeling of failure.

Umbridge pulled Harry out of the fireplace by the hair, bending back his neck. "You think," she hissed wickedly. "that after two Nifflers I was going to let another foul, scavenging little creature enter my office without my knowledge? I had Stealth Sensoring Spells placed all around my doorway after the last one got in, you foolish boy. Take his wand. Hers, too." Malfoy stepped forward with Adeline still in his grip and took Harry's wand from Umbridge's hand. Milicent Bulstrode took Hermione's. Malfoy walked back, holding both Adeline tightly with one arm around her midsection. He took up smirking and spinning Harry's wand in his hand.

Umbridge continued. "I want to know why you're in my office."

Harry staggered. "I was -- trying to get my Firebolt!"

"Liar," Umbridge shook Harry by the hair. "Your Firebolt is under strict guard in the dungeons, as you very well know, Potter. You had your head in my fire. With whom have you been communicating?"

Adeline wanted to smack this woman for the way she was talking to Harry. Her eyes blared with fire as she stepped forward. Malfoy's grip tightened on her waist as he leaned down and murmured in her ear. "Careful there."

"No one!" Harry tried pulling away from the pink Headmistress.

"Liar!" shouted Umbridge and she chucked Harry at the desk. Adeline jumped, her hands flying to Malfoy's arm. The rest of the group walked in and Harry looked completely shocked.

Adeline was, too. All four of them -- including Neville -- had been gagged. They were all in a stronghold by one of the Slytherins in the Inquisitorial Squad. Warrington tossed Malfoy a bandana, and Malfoy put it over Adeline's mouth, being surprisingly gentle with the way he handled her. He tied it together, leaving Adeline to listen.

"Got 'em all," said Warrington. He shoved Ron into the middle of the room and pointed a finger at Neville. "That one tried to stop me from taking her," he switched his finger to Ginny. She looked absolutely furious. "So I took him along, too."

"Good, good. Well, it looks like Hogwarts will shortly be a Weasley-free zone, doesn't it?" Umbridge smirked, staring at Ginny's vicious expression.

Malfoy laughed loudly. Adeline stomped on his foot as hard as she could, making him tighten his hold around her until she gasped.

Umbridge turned her gaze to Adeline. She spoke to Harry. "So, Potter, you stationed lookouts around my office, and sent these baffoons," She flicked her fingers towards Adeline and Ron. "To tell me the poltergeist was wreaking havoc in the Transfiguration department when I knew perfectly well that he was busy smearing ink on the eyepieces of all the school telescopes -- Mr Filch having just informed me so."

"Idiots." Malfoy mumbled. Adeline ignored him, keeping her gaze steady but feeling her cheeks go pink.

Umbeidge continued. "Clearly, it was very important for you to be talking to somebody. Was it Albus Dumbledore? Or the half-breed, Hagrid? I doubt it was Minerva McGonagall, I hear she's too ill to speak to anyone."

During O.W.Ls week, Umbridge chased Hagrid out of his hut with some officers from the Ministry. Adeline wasn't there to see it, but she did hear about it and was disappointed. She loved Hagrid. He was phenomenal. And McGonagall had gone to St Mungos with a strange illness after the O.W.Ls took place, so her careers appointment was cancelled.

Malfoy, Crabbe, Daphne, and Warrington laughed at that. Adeline repressed her rage, now the feeling of Malfoy's hand on her waist giving her the urge to smack it off and then smack him in the face. She loosened her grip on his arm and dropped her hands, giving up on the fight. There was no way they were going to win. Adeline's anxiety rose.
