Ben's flat was incredibly beautiful. The moss honey oak flooring continued throughout the three floors of his flat, the white walls unscatched. The stairs were black and made out of some sort of metal rather than wood. On the first floor, he had two black armchairs with a white woven rug underneath. Between them, sat a glass table with a healthy plant on it. There was a space to put shoes, a mirror, an oak bench that was the same colour as the floors, and a small and simple bathroom with the colour schemes of white and black.
On the second floor, a kitchen with the countertops of black marble. His dining table was white and had four chairs surrounding it. A silver chandelier hung over it, crystals glistening in the evening haze. His couch was black with white pillows, and he seemed to continue the glass table trend with his coffee table. A Muggle televison sat on a white dresser in front of the couch. Adeline could see through the glass slips in the dresser that there were films upon films stacked up. On the other side of the second floor, there was a pool table and a Wizard's Chess board set up. There were beanbags spread throughout the area. There was also another bathroom, the same as the one downstairs.
Finally, the third floor had three rooms. One was Bens; his bed spread was black (shocker), and his pillows were white. He had two nightstands on either side of his king size bed. There was a gold lamp on either side with white lamp shades. He had a white dresser with his knicknacks sat atop of it. He had achievements on the wall; his graduation slip from Hogwarts and his graduation slip from Auror Training. He also had framed pictures of him with his old friends at school in their Hufflepuff robes, the most normal photo he could find of Mother, Father, him, and I. He also had a picture of him and I from this Christmas. It was a moving picture like the rest, but he seemed to have cast a spell to not have it move. His room was set with it's own bathroom and closet.
The second room was a guest room. It was all white. The bedsheets, the pillows, the nightstands, the nightstands, the lamps on the nightstands, the curtains, the bed frames, the empty picture frames hanging on the wall. The only thing that wasn't white, was the mirrored closet across from it.
The third room had taken Adeline by surprise. It was so different from the rest of the house. The walls were an extremely light pink, frozen pictures of family, friends, and galas all with her in it hung on the wall in golden picture frames. In the center, a queen sized four-poster bed sat. The bed-posts were painted a shimmering gold and the bedsheets were a darker shade of pink than the wall, but not by much. There were gold, white, and pink throw pillows thrown neatly over the bed. There was a white desk with parchment and an eagle's quill dipped in ink. On the other side of the room, a mirrored closet. It was simple and incredible.
And Ben had said it was hers.
Only hers.
His exact words were. "I want you to have a place to go if you need to escape being royalty for a while. This is your room. Consider this as much as your flat as much as it is mine. Hell, I might even ask you to pay rent. Okok, relax! I'm joking, Ads."
Now it was a week later, and Adeline had come to find that Ben had bought her loads of Muggle clothes so that she didn't have to wear her dresses. She couldn't have been more thankful for her older brother. They had already gotten ice cream in the park, walked around the crowded streets of a bustling London and soaked in the sun, and went swimming in a beach in Brighton.
Even though Ben had left her during the day for work, she still had a great time on her own. She would put in his records and listen to Queen albums while eating strawberry ice cream and dancing around the flat like no one was watching. She had grown used to the tight fit of tank-tops and jean skirts that she had taken from the lot of clothes Ben had given her. She had always either braided her light brown hair or left it down.
