He was standing at the end of the corridor with her father. There was a smug smile on his face as he stood next to the King of Fawshire.
Adeline hid behind the wall, peering at him around the corner. She was in a basic gown, silky and sage green. It had long sleeves that clung to her arms tightly and hugged the corset underneath the material, making her look more slim but also have more shape in her hips and breasts. Her hair was curled in a half-up, half-down style. A matching sage ribbon tying up the half-up section.
She did basic, elegant makeup. Concealer, mascara, a light brown shadow to give her eyes more depth and a nude lip with brown lip liner.
She clutched her dress in her hands, biting the inside of her lip as she stared.
Adrien Pucey was tall. Taller than he was the last time she had seen him. He had broad shoulders and a strong build from what she could see. He stood in a navy suit, the picture of royalty.
Or what he wished he could be.
His dirty blonde hair was swooped to one side and he was standing too rigidly for Adeline's liking.
As royalty, she was taught how to stand, how to walk, how to sit. Don't be too rigid, but don't slump. Stand tall, but not too tall.
She perfected it by the time she was eleven.
Adrien had more training to do if it meant he was going to be the husband of a princess. A prince by marriage.
Cormac Fawley looked worn out. His brown eyes were tired and he looked irritated. Maybe it was from waiting for his only daughter, maybe it was from other business. Either way, Adeline didn't care. He looked miserable and she wanted to stay away.
Last time he was this miserable, he hit her.
When firm hands were placed on her shoulders behind her, she jumped. Adeline turned in a rush to end up meeting a pair of storming blue-grey eyes.
Brilliant. Another issue.
She wasn't going to tell him about this for fear of her breaking down.
"Don't scream," Draco whispered, placing a finger against his lips. "It's me."
"I can see that!" Adeline hissed. She pushed him behind the wall further. "What are you doing?"
"Looking for you." He said, a smile coming up on his face. Usually, it would've made her melt to the floor as if she were taken over by molten lava, but she was stressed right this second.
Her fiancé and the boy she is cheating on him with are within a very short distance of each other.
She swallowed. "You have to go."
"Why?" Draco frowned. His eyes roved carefully over her dress and hair. "Why are you all dressed up?"
Adeline looked behind her and grabbed Draco's arm, pulling him into a vacant classroom. After she shut the door she carefully explained. "Adrien is down the corridor. Him and my father are waiting for me. I'm meant to go to Hogsmeade with him."
"I thought you were meeting with him on Christmas." Draco said, his eyes suddenly cold.
"There was a change of plans," She replied. She ran her hand down his arm. "I don't have a choice, Draco."
He huffed, looking to the side and then back at her. "I know, Rose."
"Then why are you angry with me?" She questioned.
"I'm not angry with you," He said, looking into her eyes and then to her mouth. She could feel the envy radiating off of him like a cruel poison. "I'm angry at Pucey for buying you like a prize mule. I'm angry with myself for not telling you I want you first."
