"Rose,"
Adeline had just gotten up the spiral stairs of the Astronomy Tower when she heard his voice. She perked up, her eyes widening and her smile quirking upwards. Her blonde had come into view, his beautiful grey eyes locking with hers immediately. She felt a shockwave of pesky butterflies shoot to her core.
"How was it?" Draco asked, his voice rough but not condescending.
She gave him a once over and mentally noted that his hair was unusually unkept, as if he had run his hands through it one too many times. His voice was hoarse and he needed to clear his throat after he spoke her name, she had deemed that was because he had not spoken for a while. He had probably been alone with his thoughts while awaiting her. His eyes were wild with questions, so wild that she could see the words pass through his corneas.
He had been waiting for her to come up here.
Adeline breathed out and a small smile appeared on her face. "Adrien is not a horrible person."
Draco's face scrunched up. "What?"
"A marriage of convenience," She spoke. "He doesn't want me nor does he want my family's riches. His father set this arrangement up just as mine did."
There was a lingering pause, creating distance between the two. The sound of the wind howling, blowing Adeline's curls and whistling harsh tunes into her ear. She opened her mouth to speak without knowing what she was going to say when Draco spoke finally.
"I'm not going to say that I trust him, but your eventual marriage is not something that I want to discuss. Just keep your guard up, Rose."
Adeline nodded. He was right. Though Adrien was kind and had claimed some part of trust within her, that may be part of all their plans. He may be trying to relate to her in order to get her where he wants her. Maybe it was because he reminded her of Ben. Maybe it was his charming personality.
Maybe it was was because he got straight to the point. She didn't know, but regardless, she needed to keep some sort of guard up. She liked Adrien, but she didn't need to fully trust him.She stepped forward, closing the distance between them. She jut out her hand, holding it in the space between the two for Draco to take. When he did, she magicked a blanket for them to lay on.
Once they were next to one another, Adeline really stared at him. Godric's sake, she was always staring at him.
The stunning shade of purple that the blanket was framed Draco's figure. If he wrapped it around his shoulders like a cape, he could very well be considered royalty.
She pictured it; Draco and Adeline, side-by-side. On thrones in the Great Hall of their castle. Fawshire could be happy and lies broken out of their cages. Ben could move back. She dreamed.
Adeline smiled at the thought and Draco brushed a stray piece of her mousy hair back behind her ear before cupping her face. "Tell me once more that you do not want Pucey."
"I do not want Pucey. I don't understand why you need all of this conformation on my behalf when I have told you time and time again the same answer," Adeline spoke calmly, yet yielded power as she tried to force some sort of truthful response from the boy. "I want you, Draco,"
Draco didn't speak.
Not a single word.
She was beginning to tire of the silence.
Adeline sat up on her shoulders so she was now looking directly at the shimmering silver eyes that had burned her all over again. She spoke, "Are you alright?"
Draco swallowed. "You want me."
"That is correct." She responded.
"I want you to need me," Draco said as his hand grasped her face tighter. With pressure, yet not hard enough to hurt. Passion seeped through his voice. "Need me like you need the blood running through your veins to keep your heart beating. Need me like you need oxygen to inflate your lungs so you can breathe. Need me like you need your bones to hold you steady. I want you to need me like you need your brain to be able to produce such wondrous thoughts. Wanting me is not enough, Rose. I need you to need me."
